My 2.5 mo old hit her head

I feel like the absolute worst mother in the world.

My DD was doing tummy time when she had a diaper explosion. I took off her clothes and then realized I needed a diaper from the back room. She was on her belly in the center of the tummy time mat on the floor. I debated bringing her with me for a second but she has NEVER come even close to rolling over so i figured the 2 minutes it would take was fine. I got back and she was on her back on the hard wood floor - she rolled over belly to back from the tummy time mat right onto the floor. My DS was in his high chair and saw the whole thing and said she hit her head on the floor and it made a noise and he showed me exactly how it happened but I did not see it and he is only 2.5.

She wasn't even really crying - just whimpering crying and stopped immediately when I picked her up - she is acting totally normally and responsive and smiley. I called the ped and he told me what to watch out for but thought she was fine.

My question - did this ever happen to anyone else or am I just the worst mother in the world - if so did your DC end up a happy and smart child - please tell me my DD won't have any permanant brain damage from this - I am feeling beside myself awful and worried I hurt her forever

Don't kill yourself over it! I had it happen on different occassions with DS even when I was sitting there! Just the other day, he was doing tummy time & decided to take his hands out from under him & he smashed his face into the hardwood. Everyone tells me these things are common & will have no long term effect on your child

My DD crawled headfirst off of our bed and took out the nightstand on the way down She was fine but I was a wreck. I know exactly how you feel and you are NOT a bad mommy
