My 6 wk old wants to be held all day long-HELP
DS always wants to be carried. I can only seem to put him down when hes sleeping. He cries almost everytime I go to put him in his swing or bouncer. I tried to see how long he would cry for if I didnt get him and it was 20 minutes on and off before I couldnt take it anymore. I dont want to get him used to being carried all day long and am afraid that he is getting spoiled. Any advice on how to get him to not be so used to being held all day long. Could this just be a really long phase?

He is a newborn and can't be spoiled. It is a frustrating phase. It is very frustrating to get things done. Embrace it. Get a carrier. All that needs to be done now is love him. He is a baby and wants to be held. He was in your womb for a long time. The real world is harsh to him.

Get a sling, once I get my little girl into a sling I can clean the house, bake, cook, watch Maury etc all while she is asleep. I love the Rockin Baby Ring Sling. Worth every penny! Good luck!

You cannot spoil a newborn. If he wants to be held, get some type of carrier so you at least have your hands free. DS wanted to be held 24/7. I even had to hold him while he slept. I wish I started using a carrier much earlier than I did. It will get better. DS definitely started becoming more independent by 3 months and I didn't need to hold him constantly.

Re: My 6 wk old wants to be held all day long-HELP
I held Cailen all day since the day he was born. I was so afraid when he started daycare at 8 wks he would be spoiled and would want to be held. Well, he was the happiest and confident 8 wk old in the room - in his bouncy seat. He was so confident from being held he didn't need it when he was in daycare!
I had the same fear and posted the same question - listen t these ladies! Hold your baby. Trust me - you will wonder where the time went when they want nothing to do with you

he is only 6 weeks, that is totally normal
I would not let a 6 week old cry at all, TBH
maybe get a baby carrier so you can still get stuff done while holding him

He is a newborn. Comes with the territory. Get a sling or a Baby Bjorn and enjoy every minute!
