My 7 1/2 month old is skipping bottles...
My dd was never a big drinker to begin with..but lately shes literally just skipping an entire bottle..like shell drink an ounce at most and then shake her head no if i give it to her..she went from 7am-5pm yesterday with nothing except food, (breakfast and yogurt for lunch) then ate at 5 and 8, but barely 10 oz between both feedings.. tonite, she had a bottle at 4, but skipped her bedtime bottle!!! Is she gonna wake up starving? She ate ALOT for dinner (foodwise) whatdya think?

i think she is just getting to be a big girl and is fuller from solids and its maybe time to adjust her fedding schedule. Maybe give her less ounces in the bottles youve noticed she is taking and then she will take more bottles throughout the day. She may just be full and not need to drink as much with every bottle. DS did this around 8 mos too.

around that age they should be getting at least 24 ozs a day. If she isn't I personally would cut back on solids until she drinks more. Breastmilk/formula is way more important before a year of age. They should be drinking their bottle first before meals.

Re: My 7 1/2 month old is skipping bottles...
by 7 months i had to start giving ds his bottles prior to a meal if i wanted him to drink anything in the morning or in the evening... he did start dropping bottles at that point.. and now at 11 months i think he has dropped them all to be honest.. i can barely get him to drink 3 ounces.. once his teeth came in he was all about the sippy

Does she have teeth coming in? At this age, Reilly had 4 of her top teeth coming in at once and went on a hunger strike for about 2 weeks. It was a fight to get her to drink and she'd eat here and there. I agree with a PP that at that age, she should definitely be drinking more. If teeth isn't an issue, I would check it out with the ped to be sure.

Re: My 7 1/2 month old is skipping bottles...
We started solids at 4 months. Around 6 months I started to give DS 4oz bottles again because he was not drinking his whole 6 oz bottle (he rarely drank 8 oz at a time) & I got tired of wasting formula. So now he has about 5 or 6 - 4 oz bottles a day.
ETA: DS is now 8.5 months old

this is what i was afraid of..i believed she should be drinking more vs eating more, but everyone keeps telling me shes gonna be off it soon anyway, uh hello soon is like 4 more months, thats not soon to me... I think shes getting an average of 20 oz a day..but she was always on the lighter side..when most babies are up to 32 oz, she was only getting 24 ish and my ped was ok with that and her weight gain..im gonna call him thanks ladies!
