My 8 month old blinks his eyes rapidly....is this nerves developing, is this common?

My 8 month old blinks his eyes rapidly....is this nerves developing, is this common?
For the past week I noticed my 8 month old son blinking his eyes rapidly. It's not all the time. When I take pictures of him he will blink because of the flash but I noticed now that he does this at times watching tv or just staring at something on the floor.
This is my first child and concerned...is this something that all little ones go through, could it be a nerve thing?
He has a dr appointment in a couple of weeks and I'll mention it to the doctor.

My friends DD did this, turned out she needed glasses. The Dr said the blinking was her way of trying to focus on an object.
