Re: My basement is flooded and i dont know what to do
Get or borrow a shop vac and vacuum it up. Make sure anything that is near water is moved.
How flooded is it?

Re: My basement is flooded and i dont know what to do
Like someone above said you have to vacuum it up. Try to get as much water up as possible. Also open your windows because you're going to get that moldy smell.

Re: My basement is flooded and i dont know what to do
Get a dehumidifier if you don't have one. It will help with any mold and the musty smell. Good luck!

Re: My basement is flooded and i dont know what to do
Shop vac it up...
Take towels and try to soak up what is deep in the carpet...
Get a FEW dehumidifiers and place them throughout the basement...
Open the windows to air it out...
Sometimes space heaters help with drying the water and the dampness...
It sux no matter what you do SO much, I'm so sorry!!
I have been through this when I lived with my parents more time than I'd like to recall.

Re: My basement is flooded and i dont know what to do
UGH... it s u c k s, I know.
Everyone had great suggestions, yes, definitely shop vac and dehumidifiers and leave the windows open a crack.
We did get a lot of rain in a short amount of time and the ground was already pretty saturated from the snow. Unfortunately, that usually equals wet basements

Ugh! Can you get a wet vac from Home Depot? Maybe you can rent one? My parents' basement used to flood all the time...unfortunately it's smelly...(water on carpet)...
I'm sorry, Mel!

Do you have flood insurance? If not...good luck. Our VP mentioned that we rec'd SEVERAL calls yesterday - the only ones getting their claim taken care of was those with back-up of sewer and drain claims...eww...
