? My BF just had a baby (please don't move this)

I am going to the hosptial to see her tonight

do I bring something?

I sent a gift to her apartment

keep in mind they live in the city- and don't have a car

or is it ok to just bring myself?

I had many people just bring themselves. It saves on trying to pack up on extra stuff while the new parents are trying to get a newborn homeChat Icon

If you bring something - maybe bring something edible. Maybe pick up her favorite Starbucks drink or something like that.

Congrats to her!

Just bring yourself. When I was in the hospital many people came just see me and the baby and didn't bring anything- and I honestly didn't expect anything either. It is enough just to take the time to visit her, it means more than any gift!

I'd just bring yourself so they don't have to lug anything else home. They'll have enough stuff as it is!

If you really don't want to go empty-handed then I would just bring maybe a small bouquet of flowers or some ballons. Something they can leave behind.

I had brought one of the edible fruit arrangements when I went to see my cousin. She loved it because she was starving!

i would say bring her either a snack or a coffee, no need to bring another gift.

Re: ? My BF just had a baby (please don't move this)

when I have visited friends in the hopital I have brought something for them.. not the baby since I had already purchased a *proper& baby gift..

I brought some nice lotions, or something that is a bit of an indulgence... as well as some food/snacks since there are so many visitors, etc.

I think it's perfectly fine to visit your friend w/o bringing a gift.

I sent flowers to the house once she was home. I called her to say hi before I came and she said she didn't need anything.

I brought her Mickey Ds fries.

I never expected anything... but I have to admit I was delighted when I got chocolate covered strawberries, Guiness and other goodies to eat/drink! And since I was in for 4 days I also appreciated the magazines.

I brought my cousin who I am close with a card and a Swarovski Baby carriage - for her. We always give each other Swarovski. Her husband was there to bring it home. I had already given gifts for the baby.

I bought magazines and chocolates to my friend when I went to visit her as I had already given her a gift or as the other ladies suggest some food stuff as the hospital food is blah usually.

I loved when I got cookies for me cause i ate them and then didnt have to lug them home with me. It was kida comical to see Dh juggling all these gifts and it was also kind of a pita... I would go with edible...

That is very sweet of you.

If you want to get something, get something for the mommy. The baby is pretty well taken care of. Food is definitely a good idea. My sister's friend brought cupcakes to the hospital which were a big hit.

When I gave birth, my sister lent me a portable DVD player and some DVD's which definitely helped pass the time.

Re: ? My BF just had a baby (please don't move this)

When I was in the hospital after having my DD, all I wanted was some frosted sugar cookies and a latte.

Honestly, while getting baby gifts in the hospital was great and appreciated, it really added to the clutter that I already had there (my clothes/personal effects/baby bag/pillow, etc). DH had brought some home with him when he went home to sleep and even then he still had to make two trips to the car on the day we were discharged. I can imagine that if they are taking a cab home, it'll be much harder to get all that stuff to the car.

So my vote is for something edible. Call and ask what she's craving. Chat Icon
