My BFP and the CBE Fertility Monitor
So after four months of trying, I got my BFP the day after Labor Day.
I first tested 10 dpo (Sunday), which was too early, I know. Got a BFN and was upset.
On Tuesday (the day after Labor Day), I got the urge to test again. I swore I wouldn't test until 14dpo, but I couldn't resist. I took the test, the cheap kind you buy at Dollar Tree, and saw only one line after about a minute. I knew it was silly because it was 7pm, hardly FMU. I left the test on the bathroom sink and walked away.
About 5 minutes later, my husband was taking out the garbage and saw the test. "I can throw this out, right?" I said, "Yeah --there only one line, right?" He said, "I only see one line..." I told him to throw it out, then said "wait, give it to me.."
There was a distinct, faint, second line. I was shocked!
My hands were shaking. I was screaming, "A line's a line!!" I was scared it was an evap line, but the test box said to wait 10 minutes then disgard, and I knew it was only about 5. My husband was stunned. He was like "You're happy, right?" because I was crying. He was very happy, hugging me and kissing my belly...
I was a little disappointed because I was planning to tell him in a cute way, but he kinda told ME!!!
I took at second test (the more sensitive EPT Early Response) and the line came up in 15 seconds and it was DARK!
Now, on to the CBE Fertility Monitor. I was only using the monitor, not temp charting or anything. I didn't want to use the POAS ovuation kits because I found them hard to read and it was tough to hold my urine for four hours.... So I splurged on the monitor.
The month before I got pregnant, I started to suspect the monitor was off. I read a few things online that I didn't like -- for example, that the monitor will give you a second peak reading the day after the first peak reading no matter what -- no matter what your urine detects.
I also didn't like how I often went from low fertility to peak fertility in one day.
So I continued to use the monitor, but also bought the POAS ovualtion kit.
Here's the kicker: the month I got pregnant, I NEVER got a peak fertility reading. NEVER. Only got a high reading, that's it. But the POAS ovulation test said I was fertile.
If I would have relied only on the monitor, I would have been waiting and waiting for a peak reading and maybe would have missed my fertility chance. (Although the instructions do say to BD once or twice with a high reading...)
So my advice to all you TTC ladies is to try another ovulation predictor method if you still don't have your BFP -- if you are temping, try the sticks. If you are using the sticks, try temping. If you are using the monitor, try temping or the sticks.
I really think that using another ovulation predictor method helped me get my BFP!!!
Baby dust to you all !

Re: My BFP and the CBE Fertility Monitor
first off, congrats to you !!!!!!!!
Secondly, thanks for sharing your story and your experience with the CBEDFM. I have been using that for while and am now also charting.
I agree that its good to have a backup or 2nd opinion.
Have a happy & healthy 9 months!!!!!
