My birth story...
It took me a while...But here is my story...
I was due Sept 22nd. For some reason, I always just knew I would go early and I did!
On Sept 4th, Labor Day lol, my water broke. I was laying down and when I got up, I felt like maybe it did, but I wasn't sure because it wasn't a huge gush I had thought it would be. So I put a pad on and waited to see what would happen.
That was around 12 pm. As I walked around the house, more fluid was coming out. I started to realize this was prob it. I didn't want to call the DR yet, b/c I wanted to do a few things before I went in! I started emptying the dishwasher, putting laundry away, showered, blew out my hair lol.
Everyone kept telling me..call the Dr already!
The Fluid kept coming out, it was a slow break instead of that huge gush I always expected.
I finally called him around 3ish I think, he was actually at Mercy hospital for that day/night, as the on call dr, I guess is what you call it?
He said since I wasn't having any contractions, I could wait to come in if I wanted, so we agreed I would go in at 8pm.
So at 8, me and DH went in. He checked me and I was still 3cm, which I was at my appointment the week before. I had a little water left, which he broke. We saw I was having contractions, which I wasn't feeling at all. He gave me pitocin, to get me going.
I started feeling contractions and asked for the epi around 4cm. So, I really did not have much pain at all. Before the epi, the breathing I learned in lamaze helped alot! I always heard you never use the breathing..but I did and it def worked.
They checked me a few times overnight, and I was progressing but at 4:30am I was only 6cm. All of a sudden at around 5am, I started feeling crazy pressure. I told the nurse and she said...this is what we want! Within the next 10 minutes or so, it started getting stronger and stronger. My Dr came in checked me and said..you are ready to go!
The nurse started to set up the room. At around 5:30 I started pushing and at 5:38am...Dominic was born!!!
He was 7lbs 11ozs and 20 inches long.
I was shocked how quickly the pushing went! The whole thing felt and still feels like a dream. I had a great experienece, and I feel very lucky with how easy everything went.
Everyone at Mercy was great... I loved my labor and delivery nurse! I originally wanted S. Nassau, b/c everyone gets their own room there, but I ended up getting my own room at Mercy, so I was happy.
I can't believe Dominic will be 2 weeks tomorrow! Here are some recent pics and I made an album of some nursery pics, I still need to hang a few things on the wall, but it is done for the most part.
