My Car Birth!!!!
My due date was April 11th.... that day, we celebrated my MIL's 60th birthday with family. I ate a ton, but felt crampy and uncomfortable all day... I attributed it to being 9 months pregnant and stuffing myself silly... I was having contractions, but they were like 25 mins apart... so nothing out of the ordinary. On the way home, I was in a TON of pain... but once we got home... everything was fine. I went to bed a little while later around 9:30... my daughter (she's 3) woke us up at around 1:30a... she was crying cause she couldn't sleep and wanted to watch TV. We tried ignoring her... but then I asked DH to just put the tv on and let her watch it... all of a sudden I had this MASSIVE CRAMP... and something in my gut just told me this was it. I ran to the bathroom... my legs started shaking, and when I wiped I had bloody show. I told DH this was it and I was calling the dr immediately, because with my DD my labor was 3 hours from when I saw bloody show. So needless to say, we werent taking any chances. Dr called back while we were running around getting ready and said to go right to the hospital. We waited about 10 mins for my inlaws to get to my house... while I was standing outside my car, my water broke and literally gushed everywhere... my husband grabbed a towel and my 93 year old grandma that lives with us... and off we went. We live about a 20-30 mins away from the hospital... and as soon as we started driving my contractions were INTENSE and 2 minutes apart. I was crying and I really just wanted to get to the hospital and get an epidural. About 5 exits from the hospital and our car stalls and starts smoking! I could not believe this was happening. I told DH to call 911 because I really felt the baby was coming. He called and they told him an ambulance would soon be there... he decided to stay on the phone with them and tried starting the car again. We stalled about 2 more times, but finally made it to the exit. As we are at the light about to turn in... I started screaming he was gonna come out... I ripped down my pants and DH started yelling... DON'T PUSH... well, you BTDT moms know that's just not possible. I pushed.. but thankfully he didnt come out... he pulled up to the front of the hospital and thats when I screamed he's coming out... DH jumped out of the car, ran around to the passenger seat where I was... pulled my pants off the rest of the way... I pushed... the baby's head popped out... DH screamed... THE CORD! He grabbed the cord from around the baby's neck... then reached in and told me to push and he guided him out and placed him on my chest. He was born around 3:15a. I wrapped the baby in my sweatshirt and DH ran in to get someone. About what felt like 5 mins later... you see a million nurses, dr's, er staff, nicu staff running outside. They tied off the umbilical cord with what I swear looked like a bread twisty. And they cut the cord. They put me on one stretcher and the baby on another and wheeled us up to L&D. Once there, they put me on the bed and told me they needed to deliver the placenta. So I delivered the placenta, I had some 2nd degree tears and they stitched me up. Since I didn't have an IV, they shot me in the leg with Pitocin to help my uterus contract. Meanwhile our new beautiful son was doing absolutely PERFECTLY. They weighed him (7lbs 9ounces, 18.5 inches long) and gave him to me to nurse him. After about an hour, they had to take him to the NICU because since he technically was not born in the hospital, they needed to run his blood for infection. He was there for about 4 hours... everything came back perfect and we all were able to get settled into our room. He is sooo adorable and my DH is the HERO of the hospital. All the dr's and nurses are talking about it and congratulating him and he even got 2 job offers! My DD met him and is absolutely in love! We are so happy to have him safe and sound in the world with us!! The whole experience is so surreal, hence why I'm up at 3:45am... I think I'm just still in shock.

that is truely an amazing story and something neither of you will EVER forget, your dh is awesome and seriously what a strong mommy!!! i would have been freaking out! Congrats on our new baby hes beautiful and so is your dd!

WOW......I am so blown away by ths story. You and your DH are AMAZING. I can't believe you stayed so calm and he knew what to do!
The car stalled, and again, and then he delivers in the car. Unbelievable!!! This has major motion picture written all over it
CONGRATS on your new he's gorgeous and big sis looks soooo proud

Wow...so glad everything worked out and the baby was fine. I can't believe your husband was able to handle the cord and get it away from the baby's neck. That's so amazing. best Wishes!
