My cat ran out of the house
I am sitting here with my back door open. I am devastated. I came home from a wake with Cailen, and he fell asleep in the car. I carried him upstairs but the door didn't shut completely behind me.
I came down to feed YuYu and noticed she wasn't whining by her bowl - saw the door open and just knew. I found her outside, but she will not let me near her.
She keeps hanging around the house - is that a good sign? Will she eventually just come back in? I keep losing sight of her, but then I see her again. As soon as I get close she freaks out and runs into thick bushes where I can't get her, or under my deck and my next door neighbor's deck.
DH is away so I'm all alone trying to get her. I don't want to give up but I'm afraid I will keep chasing her away
If I keep the door open, will she get hungry and come back in? She is ONLY an indoor cat. I am so upset right now.... She is around the house - so she won't wander away, right? She can sense this is her home? Will she eventually just wander back inside????

Re: My cat ran out of the house
does she normally respond to shaking a can/bag of treats? My friend's cats come running when they hear that.. I'm sure you've tried, but anything you normally say or yell out that she normally responds to like "dinner" or "treat" etc...? or maybe a squeaky toy or one with a bell that she likes?
I she comes back safe & sound!

She is home Thanks!
Nooo - she responded to nothing. She was just calmly hanging out, running away from me when I got too close. Then I just sat inside with the door open. 10 mins. later, she sauntered back in, meowing hello.
Want a cat???

I'm so glad she came back in.
I have heard that if you put their litter box outside, they are drawn to it.. but I'm so so glad she came home..

Re: My cat ran out of the house
When indoor cats get out... they get freaked out and actually run from you.
Her reaction to it was actually rather normal.
Good thing she calmed down enough to be able to come back in the house!!
One of my biggest fears is if my cats ever got out!!

Glad she's back. She's probably just stressed from being out. I'm sure she'll be back to her old self soon.
