My crazy and scary morning!
Most of you know I have 2 big labs who I love like my children.
Well, every morning I get up, feed them, let them out in the backyard while I run on the treadmill, then take a shower and get dressed.
This morning, when I got off the treadmill, Sargent (my black lab) was barking up a storm. I ignored him thinking he was barking at the garbage men or a bird or whatever.
I went upstairs and turned the shower on. Sarge is still barking and barking.
So, I run to the window, open it and yell, 'Sarge, stop it!!!"
I notice Sarge is barking at Hershey. Not playing, just barking.
I get concerned, I run downstairs, out onto the deck.
Hershey is foaming at the mouth and in totally distress.
I guide in her the house, trying to figure out what is going on.
I decide there is something wrong and I can't fix it.
I call Phil and say, "Meet me at the vet, something is wrong with Hershey"
I am frantic.
I guide Hershey to the car. She is crying and foaming and in such distress.
I pick up her front paws and put them on the back car seat and then lift up her butt and push her in the car. She weighs about 95lbs.
I race to my Vet, he is about 5 minutes away. The whole way she is crying and foaming at the mouth and I am literally freaking out.
We get to the vet and honestly, I don't know how I got her inside.
They take her and they get Dr. Duffy.
I am telling her everything will be okay.
Keep in mind I am still in my workout gear, sweating from my workout and I smell.
Dr. Duffy comes in, opens up her mouth. Goes out and gets a helper and prongs. The helper holds Hershey and Dr. Duffy takes the prongs and pulls out a stick from her throat.
You had to see it.
Right after he pulled it out, she was fine.
She starts barking and in her barking way thanking Dr. Duffy.
Dr. Duffy looks at me and says, "So you have one dog who eats rocks and the other one who eats sticks."
What a crazy morning! She scared me to death!
JUst wanted to share my morning!

oh my goodness...that is so scary....i have had emergencies with my dog and it is the worst feeling. i am so glad your doggy is ok though

i cant even imagine if that happened to my baby...i know how scary it must have been

Thank you everyone! I have been telling everyone how Sarge saved Hershey's life.
For those of you who have kids, how the heck do you handle those scary situations? I love my dogs like my children, but I do understand it must be just as scary with a child, if not more.
Beth, that's why I didn't email you back, I got to work at 11:30, then had a meeting at 12:00, then at 2:00, and I am on 2 search committees.

Definitely understand! I was in meetings all day anyway. What a scary morning!

The kinda funny thing is, I never turned the shower off when I left for the vet.
I came home to a house full of steam!
I am real lucky the fire alarm didn't go off.

Shhh... Phil doesn't know that I left the shower on.
Phil was just happy Hershey was okay.
I gave Sarge extra treats and I left him to roam the house while I was at work. Usually I put in the kitchen, because he likes to sleep in my bed when we are gone.
