Thats pretty cool! (if its a friendly ghost)
My grandparents had a ghost in their house too...right before they moved in a little girl was hit by a car and died in front of the house. She (the ghost) interracted with mainly my aunt for years. The ghost played childlike pranks in one particular room in the house, but she did show her face to my aunt once.
Oh man I have a bunch of stories of that ghost! I am almost tempted to knock on the door and ask the new owners if the ghost "plays" with them too!
Please tell!! I love hearing stories about ghosts!!
When my aunt was little, she would come home from school like 5 min before my grandma came home from work every day. My aunt let herself in, and no one was in the house. She heard someone walking around upstairs in the ghost room so she went to see who was home. As she walks up the stairs, she hears the drawers slamming opened and closed so she ran out of the house and down the block until she saw my grandma come up the block. My aunt thought someone broke in! My grandma walks in with my aunt and sees no one in the house, but drawers were all closed!
Another story was when my aunts friend lived with my grandparents for awhile in between apts and this woman was OCD. SHe had everything neat and organized in her room...which happened to be the ghost room. She would come home and see weird things done to her possessions. This woman had all her shoes lined up in the bottom of her closet and one day after work she opened her closet and saw every left shoe was turned over!...meanwhile no one went in that room but her when she was living there!
My poor aunt, the same one the ghost always tourmented, was sleeping in "that room" years later, after she was married. She woke up and felt something heavy on her chest, saw a black sillouette and couldnt breathe! She started to panic and then saw a white silouette of a girl and the girl said to whoever was on her chest, "leave her alone, shes one of us!" Thats how we found out the ghost was a girl...we always knew it was a kid with the pranks that were done.
My uncle would stay in that room any time he came in from out of town. He went to sleep with a necklace on and woke up and couldnt find it. He thought maybe it got lost in the sheets so he searched the sheets and didnt find it. My grandma did the laundry and shook everything out, searched under the bed, and still didnt find anything. A few months later my uncle came to stay again and said to the ghost, "Listen Pauly I know you stole my necklace...now I am going to sleep now so when I wake up, I want my necklace back." Sure enough, he woke up the next morning and it was in his hand.
As a kid I didnt know all these stories, but as I got older our parents would tell us more and more stories...I mean we used to play Nintendo in that room when we went to visit grandma and grandpa! We didnt see anything out of the ordinary, except for when the games wouldnt work sometimes, but we would just blow on the cartridge and all was good...but cant really blame that on "Pauly" lol

Re: my dad thinks his house is haunted
I have to say, as someone who has experienced some really weird paranormal stuff, I am not all that freaked out by it! I'm a HUGE baby and usually everything freaks me out, but seriously, it doesn't scare me when I have something paranormal happen to me. I'm just so fascinated by it! Plus, there are different types of hauntings. Some of them are just residual, where energy is trapped in an area and replays actions that have happened in the past and others are intelligent where they interact and know you are there. Anyone who is interested in ghosts should absolutely check out Ghost Hunters. It's on Wednesdays at 9 on Syfy. I've learned so much from watching it and it's prompted me to do my own research and some voice recordings where I've actually picked up voices!

DH did the whole house over and once in a while our bathroom door upstairs has blood on it. I always check myself and DH to see if we were bleeding and didn't realize like a little cut or something and nothing. It's not on the floor or anywhere else. Always on the door and it's a new door he installed too. FREAKY.

Re: my dad thinks his house is haunted
I have had some freaky things happen too. I own the house I grew up in, my parents were the original owners and had the house built. After my Grandparents passed and I was about 10 yrs old, I woke up in the middle of the night and saw my Grandparnets looking at me and watching me. I was freaked out. Then after my Dad passed away, some freaky things happened - about an hour before I got the call from the hospital, I felt someone sitting on me and hugging me so tight, and I felt like I was not alone. 1 hr later I got the call he passed away. Then the weeks after his death, weird things would happen in the house- the radio that was unplugged in the kitchen would go on- there were no batteries in it, garbage cans were being slammed , things were falling off of shelves when no one was in the room etc. I finally was really freaked out and had a discussion w/ my father and was crying and told him what happened and then things calmed down. Now I sometimes at night can hear someone walking around in my living room and going to the window to look outside. My father did this alot he liked to look out the window. I am not freaked out by it b/c I know that he is watching out for me and DH. It actually brings me comfort. When he first passed way, and I had to find somehting in the house to repair etc, I would ask out loud were it was , and somehow I would end up in the area it was and find it.... weird, but comforting.

Re: my dad thinks his house is haunted
I've experienced a few things when I lived at home and have heard some stories from my family. We lived in a mother-daughter cape upstairs from my maternal grandmother and grandfather. Most of the things that happened seem to have to do with my grandfather who passed away a few years before I was born.
One thing I will never forget is in 5th or 6th grade waking up in the middle of the night to a shadowy figure in a policeman's uniform standing over the bed. (My grandfather was a policeman.) Somehow I knew it was him. The figure keeled next to the bed and I closed my eyes so tight thinking it was my imagination. When I opened them up again, I saw the figure walking into my sisters' room. I was completely freaked out!
