my dog is nuts!!!
my dog is nuts!! Came home third day in a row and he tore up our apartment, he ate a highlighter which I had to scrub out of the carpet. He is only year old, but he seems to never grow out of this crazyness... i afraid when the baby comes I won't be able to handle him and the baby because he is so needy
(P.S.- we walk him 3 times a day and gave him the best busy toys while we are gone, we never leave him for more then 5 hours)
I'm so frustated right now...
I didn't wanna crate hm again, but maybe we should

Crate training is really the only solution to that kind of distructive behavior.

Re: my dog is nuts!!!
Def try crate training. I was afraid that my Pup wasnt going to outgrow that stage either...he was eating everyting...including our throw rug. We would only put him in the crate when we were leaving him alone. The trick is you can't make it seem like a punishment place. This was the first time I ever did crate train, and I would put him in ther when he did something bad. I later found out then they fear the crate. After about 5 months of crating, we started letting him out on occasion...like if we were only going to be gone for liek an hour. If he did good, we kept him out longer. Sure enough, we took the crate apart and havn't used it in almost 6 months. From time to time if we are gone too long, then yes, he will eat something if it's in sight...but we keep the bedrooms closed, and clean up rather well before leaving. So far so good.
Hope it works out for you!

Re: my dog is nuts!!!
Please crate train your dog.. Its not only good for you but it will become a safe haven for him as well.. Never use it as a punishment or he will never like it only fear it.. This is your answer.. i promise you its not mean. Its being a responsible loving owner.. You dont want to come home one day to see he got into something really dangerous like electrical cords .. Good luck.. Please keep us posted.

Re: my dog is nuts!!!
How about gating him off in a small area with limited access to objects. Maggie is 15 months - out of the crate but gated off in our den.
