My dog won't eat!
He used to love to eat. He would be so excited for breakfast or dinner time. Now we put out the food and he sniffs it and walks away. We have changed the food 4 different times in 2 weeks to see if maybe he just didnt like the food. This has been going on for about 3 weeks now. He wont eat at my parents house anymore either (we thought he just wanted the food they fed their dog). He still begs for table food of course. Lately, he has been waiting hours.. throwing up what looks like bile.. and then eventually eating. But he went from eating 2 meals a day to maybe 3/4 of a meal once a day.
I feel bad but I have to force him to eat... usually we will bring him to my parens and as soon as their dog makes a move for his food dish he will quickly eat.
I don't know what is up with him. I feel like he is being spiteful. He is not acting sick at all and has all of his energy still..
Anyone elses dog do something similiar?

Re: My dog won't eat!
He might have something in his stomach. My dog once ate a baby wipe and he would not eat sometimes and then other times he would. He was also throwing up bile. Eventually it passed but not after we had xrays and a sonogram done.
My moms dog once had a piece of a squishy rubber bal lodged in thier stomach that caused her to not eat.
I would bring the dog to the vet.
It is also not good to switch food that often and when you do switch it should be done gradually, that can also cuase stomach issues.
Good Luck !!!!!!!!!

Re: My dog won't eat!
Def good advice from the PP, I'd consult the vet, stop changing food. I wouldn't attribute it to the dog's personality just yet. Do you free feed? That is one reason we don't - we want them to eat, be done, and take the bowls away. So they learn to get while the gettin's good. It helps to drive home the dominant roles also, I give you food, I can take it away.
What foods are you giving? What have the poops been like? If vet gives you an all clear, maybe you should go with a limited ingredient type food to rule out stomach upset/allergies.

Re: My dog won't eat!
He once at a chicken bone out of the garbage and wouldn't eat that week.. but he doesn't really eat or chew anything and as far as we know he didnt eat anything.. this has been going on for 3 weeks.. i think thats a bit long but who knows.
I only offered him different food because I thought maybe he was being picky. Since then I did go back to his original food that he always ate no problem. He wouldnt eat any of it. We do feed him and pick up the bowl if he didnt eat he didnt eat.. but since this has happened I have been leaving it there hoping he will go back to it.
We feed him Iams.. have since the day we got him and he usually loves it. All bowel movements have been normal except for this weekend.. but he was at a BBQ begging for table food so I am sure that has alot to do with it.
