My DS won't stop coughing

My DS (15 months) has had a runny nose for about a week - all clear....not sure if it's teething related. Other than that he is eating, sleeping, and playing...with NO fever. Yesterday he awoke with a cough....today it is really bad...every 2 minutes or so. I called the pediatrician and he told me I can give him "Pedia-Care Cough and Cold, 1/2 teaspoon every 8 hours." I went to three drug stores; at the last one (Rite-Aide) the pharmacist told me Pedia-Care has been off the market for years....GREEEAAAT! I call the pediatrician back and the office is closed!!

What should I do....? Call the emergency number on the answering machine of the pediatrician?

I am afraid he is going to be up all night coughing!!!

I would call the Dr's office and have whichever Dr is on call, call you back

I was just looking in my hall closet and I have a bottle of Pedia Care and it does not expire until jan of 2011. I bought it in CVS. I did not see any recalls on it.

My pediatrician recommended using Children's delsym- ut just a teensy amount. I gave 1-1.5 ml.

Honestly. I would bring him to the pediatrician....that was my daughter 2 weeks ago and she had to go on neubilizer treatments...I don't believe any over the coutner things make that cough go away.
