My first post....offically TTC
Hello All,
My DH and I went to the DR this week. Due to PCOS, my DR prescribed Clomid and some other medication to bring on my period. He also wants me to start charting my BBT.
Here are my questions,
Did anyone have any side effects from Clomid?
Can I take my BBT at like 2am, then roll over and go back to sleep? I really like to snooze in the morning.
Thanks for reading this far! I wish you ALL THE BEST!

Re: My first post....offically TTC
i have PCOS too. clomid doesnt always work for people with PCOS (did nothing for me). for some it does and for some it doesnt so don't be discouraged if you are one of the people it doesnt work for. are you being monitored closely by your doc while on it? if not, you should find a doc that will, so you know right away if its working.
as for temping, you can temp whenever you want as long as you get 4 hours of sleep prior and can take the temp without much movement. i used to temp around 530am and then go back to sleep. just make sure you take it consistently at the same time and with consistent sleep.
welcome and good luck! hope your stay is short!!

I agree with Flowerwife about getting monitored while you are on clomid. It is EXTREMELY important! I would not take any ovulation inducing medications by any doctor without being monitored!
If your OB prescribed this and will not be monitoring you on it, I would head to an RE. That's my opinion, at least!

Re: My first post....offically TTC
Welcome!
I have PCOS too and agree with the other girls about being monitored. Some OBs will give you 3 months' worth of Clomid and send you on your way and tell you to come back if you're not pregnant. An RE will monitor you from the first month with blood/sonos to see if you're ovulating so you can re-adjust the very next month. It's worth it.
As for temping, I just temp when I get up in the morning on weekdays and set my alarm for that same time on weekends. On weekends I temp and then just roll over and go back to sleep for 5 more hours! You have to temp at the same time of day or the temperatures don't mean anything.
Good luck out there! Hope your stay here is short and sweet!

Re: My first post....offically TTC
Thank you ladies!
It was Provera he gave me.
He will do sonos and bloodwork on me. The plan is take the Provera, ovulate, take the Clomid, by cycle day 35 go to his office for a checkup. Does that sound "right"?
On a side note, my Dh and I will wait to start the medications until January. We want to see what happens first.
I wish you all the best too!

Re: My first post....offically TTC
chances are you will take the provera, get AF, then take clomid. you wouldnt take clomid after you ovulate since its a med to induce ovulation.
you def shouldnt be waiting for cycle day 35 to find out if clomid worked. you should be going to the doc at least a week after taking it to see if you are growing follies and going to ovulate. if you wait til cd35 and it didnt work its a waste of 3 weeks. i am guessing you are seeing an ob/gyn and not an RE?
also if you temp and discover that you are not ovulating on your own, it will do you no good to wait until january for meds. you cant make a baby if you arent ovulating so if, through temping, you determine that you arent, you really shouldnt wait (unless you really want to wait to start TTC). however if you temp and find that you are ovulating, then you might as well take all the time you need.
in the event that you arent ovulating, i strongly recommend seeing an RE (reproductive endocrinologist). their entire job is to get you to ovulate and get you pregnant. esp with PCOS, ob/gyns just dont have the time and background to give you the attention that you need.
sorry if this is a lot of info, i dont mean to scare you, but for many of us PCOS means it will take some time and effort to get pregnant. we are not the lucky ones that get knocked up on our first try, mostly because we dont generally ovulate regularly without meds. so in short, my advice is to figure out if you are ovulating or not, and take it from there based on how long you really want to wait to get serious about TTC. good luck!!
