My first sentimental moment with pregnancy #2 (kinda long)
First I'd like to say that I'm extremely excited about this baby. I wake up somedays and "forget" that I'm pregnant because I'm constantly running after my (almost) 3 year old and battling temper tantrums and potty training.
I had a moment to myself and got my hair highlighted/cut/blown out the other day by my friend who has been doing my hair for years. He sister owns the salon in her house and they work together there.
While I was sitting, waiting for my color, I watched the two sisters talking back and forth. The facial expressions, the inside jokes, the closeness these two girls had with each other at first made me feel sad. Being an only child, I never had the chance to experience that level of closeness...a best friend for life.
Then I reached down and touched my stomach and smiled because I knew I made the right decision to give my son a brother/sister so they will experience this closeness that I never had. A best friend for life.
My hair came out awesome...btw...

Aww Stefanie... that was so touching! I have 2 sisters and a brother so it was always crazy in our house. I often wondered if kids who were only children were sad that they didn't have a sibling.  I think it is great that you are able to give your DS something that you didn't have... a built in best friend/amusement park ride buddy!!

That was really sweet! I am an only child as well and I really did not want DS to grow up alone like I did. I can not wait to see my children grow up together!

I have a sis and although for some time we werent close and the best of friends, all has changed and its great!!

Awww. That is really sweet. I am on only child, too and I know what you mean. I have always longed for a brother or sister and knew that I did not want to have just one child. I'm having the first right now, but definitely want 1-2 more. My SO has a half-brother who is 12 years older, so he pretty much grew up as an only child also. We were saying just the other day how we want a noisy house with the kids running after each other, causing all sorts of trouble.

stefanie that is so sweet! i am so looking forward to giving this little one a sibling, and i haven't even given birth yet
although i may be trying to re-create my childhood dream of being close with my sisters - we were NOT close at all and it's amazing that we can be in the same room together now!

i know how you feel. I always wanted a sister. I got a brother who I was never close to. I felt like an only child.
I'm sad that even though I'm not pregnant yet, I will probably only have one at this point. I hope that my son or daughter will make great friends and experience closeness that way.
I'm so excited for you.

Awww, that is how I felt before I had my second. Now, my DD is almost 3 and DS is almost 1 and it is so amazing to watch them together, they already love playing together, and my DS already adores his big sister.

That is so nice
I admit I was disappointed at first when I found out I was having another boy but I'm so happy now that Logan will have a best friend in his brother

Awww what a poignant story; I'm one of 4 kids, and for all the hand-me-downs I wore and the "WILLYOUSTOPTOUCHINGME" battles I always felt lucky to have my 2 sisters and 1 brother around.

Honestly that was a very nice story. I can sort of relate as I'm an only child as well and want to have a few more after this one. I want them all to have a strong closeness bonding relationship - something I never had. Thanks for making me smile
