My grandfather passed away tonight..
Long story..
My grandmother had lung surgery at Winthrop 3 months ago. My grandfather was visiting her in the hospital and had chest pains.
A week after my grandmothers surgery, he had triple bypass surgery for his heart. He had a few complications and went through 2 more heart surgeries that week. He seemed like he was doing ok, and had a few bumps in the road, but lately had been doing wonderful. He was still getting stronger every day in Winthrop over the past 3 months, we thought he would be home soon. Last night he got a double pnemonia and a serious infection that took over his whole body.
I found out at 4:30 today about this sudden turn of events and the doctors said he would not make it through the night. Family flew in (and continue to fly in) from all over the country... and he passed away peacefully at 10:30 tonight.
He was not the typical grandfather, he and my grandmother were so much fun. They were the type that loved to have fun. The night before my wedding, they were out partying with the bridal party and didnt want to go home.
I am just so sad for my grandmother. They have been together since they were 12 years old. My grandfather was 80. 
Please say a prayer for him and our family at this difficult time.

Im am really sorry, I know your pain. There is nothing I can tell you to make you feel better, other than hold your family close to you and embrace his life and keep his memories alive. Think back on all the wonderful and FUN times you had...That is what got me through. My grandparents have been gone for a few years and that what still helps me through the emptiness.

I am so sorry. I recently lost my grandmother whom I was very very close with, so I can empathize with your pain. Please know every day does get a little easier and he is around you in spirit.
