my heart was ripped out my 12 year old crying
My son Jesse came down last night to talk to me and was hysterical.
His dumb *** friends decided to telll him he was fat and had man boobs.
Now..let me start by telling you..I have seen kids with man boobs and he does not ****have them--in fact Ii will post a pic later!
The problem is these kids eat **** alll day long and look like concentration camp victims.
I cook--and cook healthy and we eat veggies and no crap!
He has my body type and I tried to explain to him it will benefit him. When he is older lifting weights just a few times will make him huge...
Guys have skinny legs and have to work hard at a buff body.
I felt soo bad for him...everytime my kids get picked on my claws come out!
I also am upset he didnt casll to come home and stick up for himself.
he did not know what to do.
Just because this kid can pinch literally one inch he says hes fat...I hope I do not wind up with a problem.
Im so tempted to call these parents but they are 12....
people suck.

you think? I just dk at 12 they are funny...,they usually say they can handle it themselves but let me tell you---its sick because he is a awesomely built kid---and def not fat or boobish....
in fact--I think theres jealously involved because all the girls like him and hes built nicely...
I cannot tell u enough but having a 11 and 12 year old there is alot of kids with weight issues--I get scrawny girls here for dinner that I KNOW will be anorexic later on...its sad.

This is such a hard situation, and I can't imagine how you feel-nothing is worse than knowing your child is hurting, i can imagine.
I think calling the parents might do more harm than good, but I know its what I'd feel like doing. I just remember my mom calling my friends mom when i was made fun of (for having ears that stuck out..I cried so much over it..) and the friend stopped talking to me b.c her mom lectured her. I was very angry that my mother called...but then again, I was little.
I think the best thing you can do is what you've already done and reiterate that b/c hes so cute, they are jealous and had to make up something to pick on. If the teasing continues, definitely call the parents. Tell him he can get better friends than that (are they his best friends? Or just so-so friends?)

they actually are his best friends and were probably teasing...he also said though Ii know I am fat..my pants say husky! I tried explaining its because he is bigger bones then them,
my husband is a health and work out freak I am going to have him talk to him.
Im thinking now this is why he asked to work out with my husband also.

This is my greatest fear for my daughter - I know first-hand how terrible it can be - I was teased and bullied relentlessly. But, I agree with the others - your son needs to navigate through this phase of life on his own, and figure out how he wants to handle it - in the end, he's going to be a much more sympathetic, empathetic, and kind person because of it all

As someone who works in a lot of middle schools, it would be a very bad idea to call the parents - that is the last thing a 12 yr old boy needs after he has been teased - to have his mommy call the parents!!!
I am so sorry - middle school is worse than high school - and I thought girls were the mean ones! I was thinking maybe Cailen would be spared since he was a boy, but I guess not now....
Unforunately, there is little a mom can do in these situations other than what you did.
I have met Jesse - he is definitely not a thin kid, but never struck me as chubby. You know what? If he was really fat, kids would never say anything because they know its mean. They must be jealous because he is such a cutie!!!

Such little nasties! I had one kid tease me my whole childhood. It went as far as hs from elementary school. I finally graduated(at a size 12) lost weight to a 7/8. Saw him out and he tried to pick me up!! As if!!! He saw it always got to me and he was in control of the situation. This is the time to build up your sons confidence so those comments don't rip him apart. I totally feel for him Edited to add I would not call the parents unless the situation got very very bad. I think it would make the situation worse right now......

no./.definitely not fat--just not a anorexic twig..Im posting a pic later...just to show how mean kids are.
meantime I am trying to tell him--the two that said it--one looks like he is in third grade not 6th and the other one has such a food phobia--(fear of choking) all******he eats ae hamburgers and chicken nuggets..the bad diet at home has his little sister who is in third grade at 100 pounds

Stories like this make me so mad. If I ever found out my kid was making fun of someone else's weight...
I'm sorry for Jesse. Unfortunately, I know how he feels and what is going through his head. I also had a different body type than most kids and was NOT fat, but much "fuller" than the other girls. All the boys made fun of me  Now it's just very important to teach him to love himself no matter what people say, which it sounds like you are already doing

I know just how you feel. I hate hearing my son is being teased.
The other day he told me, "Brian was teasing me & said I was sexy."
"Um WHAT?!"
"What does sexy mean?"
"It sounds like Brian was teasing you. Sexy isn't a word that a 6 year old should be using. It's a way of saying you look nice but he would say that to a girl."
"What should I do?"
"Tell Brian to get over himself"
"What does that mean?"
"It's a way of saying Brian thinks he's cool & he's a doofus -but it's saying it without getting in trouble."
So for the entire car ride to school, he practiced "Hey Brian - get over yourself!"
It's for this reason I feel I should not be raising kids.
I didn't realize that "growing pains" also included the parents.

My heart aches just reading that. My oldest is 4 1/2, Im so not ready for "advanced meanness" like that. I saw it with my nephew who's now almost 18 and it broke my heart then but he's always had a lot of self esteem, I think in part bc my SIL didnt get all emotional about it (if front of him anyway) I'd love to be able to do that when the time comes.
***HUGS*** Im sorry! Kids can be so unbelieveably mean. (So can adults I guess)

kids can be so mean. My son was crying to me on friday because some girl in his class called him a wierdo and told another little girl.
He said to me mom I have tried everything to be her friend. It hurts me so much. He just turned 7.

Your poor son. I HATE to hear kids acting this way- even when it's not my hkid it breaks my hEART. And I've heard girls are even meaner. If someone is mean to my DD, watch out - DH is very protective of her!
