My kid doesn't want to play with me throughout the day
I don't get it.
He will hug and kiss me all day long.
Tickles - he loves.
Hide and seek - we can play for hours.
But, actual playing - like the two of us sitting on the floor together - he wants no part. He'll actually pick his toys up and walk away from me.
Am I just boring? I don't get it?
On a serious note - is this a problem you think?
He is 17.5 months.

I think that's normal at that age. In a few months he'll want you to play with him all the time.

I don't think its a problem, I get kicked out of his room all the time.
But, I know my kid HATES learning. Hates it. Once I start counting cars, or asking for the red block, he gets turned off in an instant. I REALLY have to sneak learning in.
He loves showing me what he writes or colors but doesn't want me to color with him.
Same with reading. He wants to get his own book and read. The bathtub is where I get my good reading in.
HOWEVER....at the park all I hear is MOM PLEASEEEEEE!!!!!! he wants me jumping, climbing, getting stuck in tubes, going down slides...even if his friend is there.

LOL - I know KateDevine has said the same thing about Christopher... so I guess it is pretty normal at this age.
Ale prefers to play by herself too, for the most part. She "reads" her books, but has no interest when I actually READ them to her. She loves to play with her kitchen and other stuff.....but she only wants me to take things from her when she brings them over...

Matty actually goes in his room and closes the door on me!! I think to myself-I guess I'm not fun anymore! I definitely think it is good for them to be independent and do things on their own!

YES! If we try to play legos with him - he will literally knock our building down - take our legos and walk away from us.
I'm starting to get a complex 
I feel bad because after he dismisses me I come onto the computer while he sits and plays next to me -- but that's what he wants!

Diana, DS is the same, very mushy and affectionate, he loves to play and is very independent with toys ,etc BUT the minute i start counting, or doing ABC's or colors, he turns away i used to get upset now i just laugh b/c i figure he is learning anyway and when hes ready , i am here to teach he does love when we read books together, so atleast i can do that with him

Yes - I think I actually annoy him because I can never just play legos. I'll be like "UP -- Look - UP --- WOW -- UP!" with every block!
I can only read to Jack right before bed. He will sit on my lap as I read book after book. During the day - they are only HIS books - and if I start reading one - he'll take it away from me!
