My little man had a rough 1st day at nursery school...
My DS had his 1st real day at nursery school today (we went to orientation with him last week ) and he started off nice and brave when we were walking in- but as soon as he realized there weren't any other mommies in the room- he had a major meltdown  ....I mean, holding onto me with dear life, arms and legs wrapped around me- you name it !He is the youngest in the class, all the other kids are closer to 4 and my DS hasnt even turned 3 yet....I am a SAHM, so he's used to being with me, but he was always ok with leaving him with family etc.. but as of the last couple of weeks (perfect timing) he's had this major seperation thing happening....It was breaking my heart to see him like that, and worst part is, I can't even pick him up because of the previa I have  ...I called 45 minutes after I left, just to see if he settled down and i could hear him screaming and crying in the background- My poor boy, hopefully he finally settled down and enjoyed himself ...I'm a daycare provider so I know how normal it is, but its still so hard .....One more hour till I pick him up ....

Aww I know its so hard to leae them when they are so distressed. HOepfully each day will get better.
I know I will have to go thru it with DS next year.

My DS was crying when I left yesterday and when I picked him up. Hoping he gets used to it soon. He's also on the youngest in his class.

He will get used to to it. I'm glad you're doing it sooner rather than later as it only gets tougher.
While he'll get used to it, it's also common to miss Mommy. My kindergartner told me she missed me at school because another little girl was crying for her mommy.

Thanks everyone When I picked him up, he lit up like a Christmas tree and the assistant teacher had him waiting at the door for me ...She said he stopped crying at 11am (dropped him off a 9:30) , had a great circle time and snack time and even comforted another little boy who was crying ! She also said how incredibly intellegent he is  , so i was very proud of him that he stuck it out- Hopefully Thursdays drop off goes a bit smoother

Glad to hear he eventually calmed down! I work with pre-school aged children and when I do seperation classes it usually takes two weeks for them to calm down and get into the routine. It's a huge adjustment for everyone! I'm sorry to hear he started out rocky, but it'll get better!

Aww, it is so common, and it just means that he loves you so much!
Little by little he will get used to it! Hang in there and stay positive!
