My meds just arrived....HELP! (Small update)

I am absolutely overwhelmed. Someone can you please tell me what to do with the bottle that is in a ziplock with an icepack? Do I refrigerate or put it in freezer?? I am so confused right now I am near tears!
Also, there is a box of Lupron with DO NOT USE written in marker all over it? Why would they send it? How do I know I have all of what I am supposed to get? And I never saw so many needles in my life! How many needles am I going to have to take???

UPDATE: Just went for blood and the nurse said the Lupron box marked DO NOT USE was tampered with, the cap on the bottle was popped so the pharmacy needs to send me a new one.

New UPDATE: Just called back the nurse at the RE, she called the pharmacy and they said they pre-mixed my Lupron for me, so that is why they marked the box DO NOT USE.

What's the bottle in the ziplock called? Is there a label on it?
No idea why DO NOT USE would be written on your meds. Chat Icon
The box is very overwhelming. Chat Icon The needles aren't nearly as many as are in there- Some are used to draw up medication and then you switch the needle before you inject.... Chat Icon HTH! Chat Icon

ETA: I would think the medication would have to be refridgerated... DO NOT put it in the freezer! Chat Icon
None of my meds needed to be put in the fridge for my IVF cycle but I know for my IUI cycles they did.

The bottle that came in the ziplock bag with an icepack is Lupron Dilution.

Hmm. I'm not sure. When I used lupron they told me not to refridgerate it... unless it was over 30 days of not using it or something (not opened)- but I believe there are different types of lupron (mine didn't say dilution). If it's already cold w/ an ice pack next to it, I would put it on the door of my fridge... so it will stay cool until they tell you otherwise.

Can you call the pharmacy you got it from to go over the storage instructions? Mine came w/ a thick packet of info about each medication - how to store them, when to take them, etc... Chat Icon

I didn't get ANY instructions at all! I looked up the Lupron Dilution online and it said to refrigerate it.

Re: My meds just arrived....HELP!

Are you on a microdose lupron protocol? If so then you do not use any lupron until it has been diluted hence the do not use. Not sure why the diluent would need to be refirgerated but if it came that way in the bag I would stick it in the fridge. My nurse diluted my lupron for me but I did get instructions on how to do it myself. When do you start? I would definitely talk to your nurse before doing anything. Hang in there, as the girls said the box is intimidatingChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: My meds just arrived....HELP!

I put all of mine in the fridge... All of them came with ice packs, so I just put them all in the fridge.

Don't stress about the belly needles... YOU DON'T EVEN FEEL THEM!

I don't know about the booty ones yet... I will keep you posted!

If it comes in an ice pack, refrigerate it.
If it doesn't come packed in ice, leave it at room temperature.

Don't worry about what to do with what, the RE WILL explain it all to you as you go along. It's much less overwhelming that way.

Re: My meds just arrived....HELP!

Thanks all, I cried all night. My Dh just took the bags from me and stacked everything inthe hall closet. Today I will go through it and try to sort stuff out. I think what scared me most is that some girls said they got instructions, I got nothing. I know thje RE office will direct me as I go, but it still would have made me feel better if I got some sort of instructions or explanations with the meds.

Re: My meds just arrived....HELP!

Also, how do I know if everything is there? Stapled to the bag was copies of all the receipts, I guess I can try to go by that! I'm a nervous wreck.

I took all my receipts in and asked if that was all the correct medication.

Call your RE's office and ask about the medication, or google it to see if needs to be refrigerated, b/c it shouldn't stay in the closet if it needs to be cold...

Good luck!

I would bring your box of meds with you and have them write it all out for you. My RE gave me a calendar w/ approximate dates on when to start everything (which immediately changed from day 1 b/c AF didn't cooperate! Chat Icon ) Don't stress--- everything will be fine. They aren't going to just let you start w/o going over everything with you! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: My meds just arrived....HELP!

I would call your nurse and take inventory. I literally pulled one thing out at a time and confirmed what it was for with her. This way you will know if you are missing anything.

Just make sure to do this inventory prior to starting because I was missing a few things from my order like my ovadril and progesterone.

Also, my nurse would call me pretty much every other day with instructions. She should walk you through everything you need to do on that particular day or week.

Lastly, did you attend an injection class? This helped me a lot.
Good luck!

Just saw your update. Why on earth did the pharmacy send you a box that said that if you are not to use it?

Scary isn't it? I brought it with me this morning when I went for blood. Nurse was confused, she opened the box and asked me if I popped the cap on the bottle. I said I didnt even know how to do that. So the pharmacy sent me something apaprently that was opened previously. I mean how much of an idiot is the pharmacy chick for not seeing the huge markings on the box that say DO NOT USE!? Now I am scared all my meds are screwy.
