My mother is unbelievable!!! (LONG VENT)

My shower is this weekend (being thrown by SIL).

She called me to complain and yell at me that I need to tell her what I need for the baby bc "everything that's good has already been bought off your registry".

And that she was planning on getting me the baby carrier but she saw last time that she was in my house that someone already bought me one.

#1 - is it my fault that you waited until 4 days before your daughter's shower to buy the gift??? If you wanted to buy/do something for me, why wouldn't you have offered earlier.

#2 - the carrier she's talking about is tucked way back in one of the closets of nursery. I never told her I already got it as a present. The only way she would know is if she was snooping in my house (she has keys).

Now, I know my mother will be very generous $$ wise when comes but it is just so annoying that she is MAD at ME bc I already got so many gifts (had a work shower already).

I know her real concern is that she feels she is in constant competition with the IL's and that she's going to look bad in front of them and my friends bc all the "good stuff" has already been purchased off my registry.

Uh, sorry, lady, what do you want me to do about it?

Sorry to hear this. You are right, she shouldn't have waited this long to shop for you.

Well, she can either buy you a lot of your smaller stuff or get you some pratical things like diapers, wipes and clothes!

Really sorry to hear this!!!

Not to mention, I have absoutely no understanding of why she is giving YOU and hard time!!!!

So unfair, and I am pretty angry for you!!
Please don't let it get to you ( I know, easier said than done).

That is rediculous!

We have family members who are the same way...if you want to get us something, then don't wait until all the major stuff is bought! that is why we created a registry!

We have members of the family that are the same - they waited until the last minute to get us the stroller (we wanted the zippy and niether BBB or BRU stock it on their floor - you need to special order it from BRU.) Well, they ended up FED EXing to themselves from a specialty store in Brooklyn b/c they didn't want to show up empty handed at the shower. -What a waste of money! They could just tell me they were getting us the stroller-Its not like I need it right away...

Meanwhile this same group offered months ago the use of the bassinet that their daughter used and they still haven't managed to get it to us. I mean between the stroller and the bassinet, the one item I really needright awasy is the bassinet. The difference is that they have to actually climb into their attic to get it rather than spend $50 to get it fedexed to them. I really thought that they were going to show up at the shower with the bassinet. Now I'm 39 weeks and still no place for to sleep when she comes home.

Sorry to turn your vent into my vent - but I know exactly how you feel.

ETA: Oh and they complained at the shower at how hard it was to find the stroller... well if you didn't wait until the last minute - you could have gotten it from BRU! arrhggg!

Try not to stress. Your mom really should have been one of the first people to buy something off your registry, if she wanted her choice at anything.
