My neighbor drove drunk with her kids again...
My neighbor is 31 and has 4 kids, between 9-1yrs old; Shes a SAHM. She was struggling with post partum and drinking after her 3rd kid in 08 and did a week in inpatient theraphy; got pregant very quickly with # 4 by accident and struggled again with drinking after him this past year. This past april I posted that I witnessed her getting in her car either high or drunk, driving her 4 kids. I didnt know what to do.
Shortly after she was admitted to a 30 day rehab stint; during which time her DH cheated on her and brought girlfriend into their house and exposed their kids to this. Her DH asked for a divorce; He temporarily moved out and in with girlfriend. GF got pregnant early on and says its his, but it could be the man she was living with before she hooked up. Baby is due in 2 weeks.
Neighbor was going to AA was sober for a while, doing well and her DH moved back in with her and they were working things out. (I think girlfriend dumped him and he came back home, but I digress.)
I see my neighbor the other day and asked what happened to their van b/c i saw it getting towed saturday. SHe told me last thursday at 3pm (so school is out, kids are everywhere) she was driving home with her 2 and 1 year old in the car..so drunk that she blacked out and slammed into a parked car on our block. Left the scene..her DH comes home to cops at their house, Neighbor was so drunk that she doesnt remember everything but she remembers pushing her DH, calling the officer names and trying to fight him, so they threw her in the cop car and arrested her. Her 2 daughters, 9 and 4 witnessed this. 
she openly tells me all this; She now faces all sorts of charges and Im so sad for her kids. This is the first time she got caught..not the first time shes driven while intoxicated with her children.
Im wondering..b/c she's had a history of being in rehab for drinking..can they take her kids away even though its her first arrest? Im surprised with her stay in rehab previously that social workers or child services havent been involved yet. Im not sure of our state laws here in PA with regards to this.
and then i see her out driving her kids yesterday in the F*** snow. I want to go over there and either smack her or rescue her kids.
I wish people can get their sh** together for sake of their kids. I know what her and DH has been through isnt easy, but I find her driving drunk with kids in the car worse than cheating.

Wow, I don't know what to say. Is her license suspended? If so, I would call the cops if I saw her driving her kids again. She truly needs help, everyone deserves a chance, but she should not be taking her children down with her, let alone putting others in danger.

OMG...depression is not cool and its sad that shes turning to alcohol...I pray for her kids safety!

OMG...depression is not cool and its sad that shes turning to alcohol...I pray for her kids safety!
Me too...i love her kids. her kids try all the time in the spring to get into my house to play with DS..LOL.
I begged her to call me if she needs help or has to get her kids somewhere..i will drive them.
She must feel like there is no way out. her DH's family is tired of her, her DH isnt talking to her and sleeping on the couch; What he did with cheating isnt right and they both should have seen a therapist.
They need to support her whether they like it or not bc she wont kick this if she doesnt have support.
her license isnt suspended YET..but probably will be when she has to go to court..whenever that is.

There is a new law in NY about driving drunk with your kids in the car vs driving drunk without kids in the car.
The charges are a lot more serious.

wow that such a horrible situation. seems like she needs a lot of help. the court system will hopefully do the right thing and get her the help that she needs.
she should have a car that starts if she blows into it and it shows a normal level.
sounds like a tough life shes having but self medicating isnt the answer esp when kids are involved.

I don't know. You might have to call DCF (or whatever it's called in NY) and report her, and she will probably be investigated by them.
