My neighbors tree

We just signed a contract to install solar panels. They are currently determining if my neighbors tree branch that hangs over my house will be a problem. If it will what are my options for trimming.
I don't want to cause problems with my neighbors but want to be able to move forward with solar. Do I have to ask their permission to trim a tree branch that hangs on my property and my garage roof? What if they say no?

We also have 1 small tree on our property that may be a problem. But that tree is dying and we would have most likely taken it down next year so we would just speed that up a little bit.

If you were the neighbor what would your answer be to the request for us to trim the branch?

Check with your town. But in most towns if it's hanging on your property you are allowed to trim it.

I think it's your responsibility to trim it if it's over your property. As the neighbor I would be grateful for a heads up that you will be doing it. I agree to check with your town.

Re: My neighbors tree

Once it is in your yard you can cut the portion of the branch in your yard. I would let the neighbor know as a courtesy.

Check each town because it's not true in all towns.

if you asked me I wouldn't mind. My next door neighbor asked if they can cut a branch of one of our trees that were hanging in their yard. they were having other trees cut. we told them we didn't mind just make sure they didn't hit the fence we literally just put up Chat Icon we are friendly with each other

If I were your neighbor, my only concern would be that if you cut it in a way that would damage the tree, or make it lopsided & unstable, but if you use a reputable company it should be fine, so I would just appreciate notice.
