Get thee to Sephora. They are so helpful and I love their range of products...they give tons of samples too. Clinique is like the most basic makeup/skincare you can get, I used to wear it and then I was like, I'm not a 45 year old secretary from Wichita.
If you have good skin, I would suggest a primer (currently loving Hour Glass Mineral Veil Primer), tinted moisturizer or foundation depending on what kind of coverage you need (I personally don't wear any liquid makeup, it ages me), some sort of setting powder that will give you a glowy finish, and soft blush and a good masacara (my favorite is Diorhsow Iconic Overcurl).

Re: my new makeover
Go to Sephora and get the make up tutorial. The $150 one. It's 1 1/2 hrs long and they start from skin care, hair care to everyday make up and night make up. They will show you what works best for your skin. You don't actually pay for the tutorial - u get $150 worth of product. Be sure they know what your budget is bc the products they choose to show you can be very expensive. The base price is $150 but you can wind up spending a ton more.
Make appt at Roosevelt field mall. When you get there tell the woman you plan on only spending xxxx and to please show you products that will fall into that price range that can work wel for you.
I did this last year bc as I'm approaching 40, my skin has changed. The make up I was using didn't do it anymore and everything I would try, sucked lol. So I did the tutorial and love the new products I have and have learned tricks for my "new matured" skin

Check out IT Cosmetics -- they sell them at Ulta. Perfect for older skin.
