My nice peaceful mornings are gone
I used to wake up - feed Jack -put him in the rocker to watch Baby Einstein - drink my coffee and eat an English Muffin.
Now that he is crawling - he doesn't want to sit still anymore. He just yells and yells from the rocker.
Am I ever going to get a moment to myself ever again?
ETA: It's like the kid has a video monitor in my room also - I swear. I put my head on the pillow to go to sleep last night and he wakes up. As if he said to himself "Mommy's going to bed now - have to keep her up a little bit longer" --

When he moves out to go to college.
I am dreading this moment. It's coming anytiime.
Right now DS screams because he is frustrated he cannot move around since he is not crawling.

Sophie - I am kicking myself bc I would always put his toys across the room for him to get - if I could have kept him immobile forever I would have I swear. Now knowing what I do!

I am going thru the same thing. DS would sit there and play while I was getting ready for work. Now all he does is yell and scream for me to play with him

Re: My nice peaceful mornings are gone
I hear ya!!
I let Thomas crawl around the family room with his toys while I stand at the kitchen table eating breakfast so I can see him (when I'm home). Or I put him in his high chair and give him a sippy cup to play with.
I feel the same way though. No more peace!

Re: My nice peaceful mornings are gone
Ahhh, so I should enjoy them now! Yeah, I think it only gets worse. My neighbor said she has a heck of a time getting her 5 year old off to school and her toddler dressed as well.
Hope you figure out a way to enjoy your coffee and let him crawl at the same time!

Re: My nice peaceful mornings are gone
When he gets older here is a trick that is working wonders for my mornings (my son is 3 1/2):
The rule is he cannot leave his room until his clock says 7am...well I didn't change his clock this weekend, so 7am is really 8am and he doesnt know the difference since it is still dark out!
Shhh.....dont tell him!

Wait until he learns to stand...you will never sit again
And I think that Lucas has the same monitor Jack has because the minute I go to close my eyes he is up.

Re: My nice peaceful mornings are gone
We got one of those large "cages" for him and put it on the soft mat in the living room.
Keeps him happy for a looooong period of time.
It's big enough that I can sit in it with him and play if I want, or he can crawl/cruise by himself while I get other things done.
If I try to put him in the PNP or Jumperoo he screams now because he just wants to stand.

Re: My nice peaceful mornings are gone
yep...welcome to the new milestone. Couldnt last forever now could it?
AND I WAS COMPLAINING ....why wasnt he crawling
Noah wants to stand and move from the second he wakes up and even in his sleep and although he crab crawls he can get from one side of the room to the other faster then I can walk it.
We are adjusting to a "new" schedule.

Re: My nice peaceful mornings are gone
I couldn't wait for DS to crawl and then he started and I missed his imobility. Now you would think I learned my lesson the first time but I am encourging DD to crawl now too. It does get kinda get better. My only advise is to either put some baby gates up or give him free rane until a certain point (that is what I did). DS wasn't aloud past the loveseat because then it was the stairs. If I ever needed to go into the kitchen I went through the diningroom. He never really ventured into the stais area until he learned to walk and DH TAUGHT him how to go up the stairs .

Re: My nice peaceful mornings are gone
OMG I know exactly how you feel! myy DD just started crawling and pulling herself up to stand and now that's ALL she wants to do!! she crawls over to something pulls herself up and then walks along it honding on. She even tried to let go now and think she can walk on her own!! She will SCREAM if I try to confine her for even 1 min to go to the bathroom!! I miss her not moving days!! I don't get 1 min all day unless she takes a nap and that sometimes dosn't even happen.

Try just putting her in her pack and play or a gated area a little time each day. Sure, she;ll scream, but she will eventually learn that it is part of the days routine and will sit in there and play. You need to have time to get things done. Molly is 16 months and still spends a lot of time in her gated area and she is fine. I just rotate the toys and give her a snack and she'll stay in there for a long time. Its the only way to get things done without worrying about where the baby is.

It will get better...you will have to figure out a new routine. Sometimes I dont even get to go to the bathroom until DS goes down for a nap.

Re: My nice peaceful mornings are gone
Thanks all for the good tips. I have to bring the PNP back from my parents house - ugh - and I was just there yesterday.
I am going to get rid of my two end tables in the living room I think - and just basically gate him off into that room.
I cringe to think about the day I can't leave him in the exercauser anymore.

Re: My nice peaceful mornings are gone
Gating an area is a great idea. And the pack & play would work too if DS doesn't mind hanging out there. I get time to eat my breakfast/catch up in LIF while DD sits in her high chair after her breakfast. She hangs out drinking her milk, watching tv for 20 minutes or so. Then the tv goes off and we play. This works well right now because our place has one big room with the computer, tv, her highchair, and toys. It will get better. It is hard when they're mobile though. Forget about going to the bathroom in peace unless DC is napping.
