My parents are closing on the house I grew up in on Monday
and I am so freaked out
I really didn't think it would bother me too much since I didn't have such a great childhood 
It will be so weird to drive past and not be able to pull in the driveway

Oh I'm sorry. I know how you feel, my parent sold the house that I grew up in too last month. Plus they moved to Florida so it was a double blow. To be honest, I thought it would be alot worse driving past then it actually is.

I know how you feel ... My parents are going to contract on their house now and it's really upsetting. As much as I am looking forward to having them closer to us again, I really am sad to not be able to just walk into the house..
There should be a support group for this sort of thing!!

My paretns are snow birds and I hate drivng by thier house in the winter, but they still live there, I can't imagine if they sold it.

We moved all over as kids so I have no attachment - but my DH loves to drive by the house he grew up in all the time...

the childhood home was sold when I was 25, it was very sad.
I still look at MLSLI to see what houses in my old neighborhood are for sale even though i never considered moving back there. I'm glad your parents sold though, it was a long process right?

my mom sold her house a few years ago and I was so upset about it too. All those memories and occasions that occurred there! It was very strange at first....I actually make it a point NOT to drive by the house when I visit the town now. The new owners don't care for the house as well and it doesn't look as nice now

I still get nostalgic when I drive past our old house, they sold it when I was 18. I wish I could get in there to see what it looks like and compare it to my memories

Yes, it was on the market for over a year!
I'm glad they fianlly sold it, its just so strange

Same here...my parents sold after their divorce, when I was 23. It was rough. And even more so when kids came along, b/c I had always wished to share my childhood home w/them, the way my Mom did with us.

I just went through this in August. It is so hard to go down my old block & see other people in front of the house. I was crying the night before they went to closing but I am glad to see a family making nice memories just like we did!

I'm nervous about this too...I moved OOS last year and my parent do plan on moving down eventually...I have it in the back of my mind that I will one day not be able to go into my old bedroom anymore...I'm trying to prepare myself.
