My Pediatrcian Does Not Recommend Hyland Teething Tablets...
I called yesterday because my almost 10 MOS old is starting to get really fussy from teething. I ask what they suggested I use and they said Baby Oragel for the gums, and Motrin or Tylenol if it gets really bad.
I mentioned after reading that alot of parents on here use or have used the Hyland Teething Tablets and they said they do not recommend using anything with BELADONNA in them and these have it. They said it's a "sleeping" drug". Hummmm....what do you ladies think?

Re: My Pediatrcian Does Not Recommend Hyland Teething Tablets...
I used them with both of my twins and I never had a problem with it. They also never slept, so whatever is in it, didn't put my kids to sleep.
Each ped is going to give you a different opinion. My ped seems to love blood tests, while my bff, never has taken her dd for blood (she is now 5) Some peds want parents to use vitamins, others don't.
I think you have to do what you feel comfortable with!

Re: My Pediatrcian Does Not Recommend Hyland Teething Tablets...
I definately think all peds are different. Mine does not recommend orajel because when they swallow it numbs their throat. They only recommend tylenol or teething toys....but my friends have given their kids the teething tablets.

We used teething tablets and they worked fine. They never tired my son out like tylenol used to. Poor kid was out for the day if you gave him tylenol. EVery Ped is diffrent.

Re: My Pediatrcian Does Not Recommend Hyland Teething Tablets...
Mine doesn't recommend them either, but it hasn't stopped me from giving them. I don't think they've done anything to help though so I stopped. But my ped is against using Baby Orajel because it can numb their tongue and/or throat and cause them to choke. So, like the pps said, every dr is different, you have to go with what you feel comfortable doing.

Re: My Pediatrcian Does Not Recommend Hyland Teething Tablets...
strange and Baby Oragel is DANGEROUS..... There have been NUMEROUS advisories posted when I worked in healthcare on how parents should NOT use baby Oragel.
The oragel is a numbing agent and if it hits the back of th throat in the baby it can cause them to not feel what is going down their throat and cause them to choke. It has also been associated with many cases of apnea (stop breathing) because of the numbing med.
I wouldn't use oragel

FYI there are really LOW doses of Belladonna. Unfortunately most standard pediatricians aren't very familiar with holistic. herbal remedies.
I would use Hylands over oragel ANYDAY.... HOnestly, I don't even think Hylands really work

And my ped says orajel isn't good because it can numb their throat causing choking.
I used a shot of brandy -- a little on my fingertip and rubbed it on her gums. The remainder of the shot for mommy.
Works like a charm. SOmetimes the old fashioned methods are best.

Re: My Pediatrcian Does Not Recommend Hyland Teething Tablets...
My ped said that the Pediatric Assoc did not recommend them because of the Belladonna. He said that I use them in moderation and it helps my DS then he was ok with it. Just don't overdue it.
