So glad Gracie is ok...
You are so right, you just never know. my MIL gets upset at me when we are at their house and I hold my baby and make my toddler sit up high when she lets the dogs out of the crate. I don't care how loving they are, kids are just as unpredictable as dogs and I will not take that chance.

This is why I don't get the arguments that break out on the pets board when parents of small children/infants sometimes opt to get rid of the family pet due to safety concerns. Even if you're 100% certain that "Spot" would never-ever hurt your child, the point is that they are animals...plain and simple.
I totally agree with this. As much as Emma is my "baby" she IS an animal and we are always weary of her. Especially since she is known to snap when she's not in a good mood.
ETS: I'm sorry...silly me forgot my main reason for posting.
I'm glad Gracie is OK. I hope she doesn't get a scar.

Patrica,
Print out my post if you want to an show it to your MIL. It was a wake up call for us as well. Now our rule is no walkers or baby toys around the dogs (ours included) and if the dog starts panting or acting weird we will take Gracie out of the room or hold her.

I should. My son has all the intention of just petting the dogs, but he is only 3 and might not fully understand a dog will react differently to something he innocently tries to do.
So sorry you had to deal with this

Re: My poor baby girl...
OMG Poor baby, I am glad she is ok. Alyssa corners our dog all the time in the walker and pulls her ears. I always say that she would never bite her, but after reading this, i will definately make sure she isnt to close to the dog anymore.

Re: My poor baby girl...
poor little girl!
My dog, who is as gentle and timid as can be, went to snap (no contact made thankfully) at Bella a few months ago b/c we didn't notice he snuck in a bone from the yeard and hid it under the couch. Bella was playing too close to it and he didn't like it.
I don't think he was going to hurt her, just give a warning, but you can never be too careful!
Glad she's ok!
