My question to the Pet Expert was in Newsday yesterday!
I often read the Pet section in Newsday part 2 in case any of the questions/answers could help me. About 3 months ago, I wrote in a question about my 2.5 year old Australian Cattle Dog who constantly barks when getting into our truck for no good reason. He barks at my other dog when he gets in, and even barks at me and my husband - even for standing NEXT to the truck! We figured he's being protective and thinks it's HIS truck. So I wrote to this guy to get his opinion, and he e-mailed me a couple of days ago, clarifying what we thought and suggested putting him in a crate to give him less access to jump around the truck (which he does after the barking stops). Yesterday, I saw a question about an Australian Cattle dog, and then saw my name! I was so excited, I didn't even read it before showing DH. He says, "This guy's an idiot!" Then I read the response - NOT what he e-mailed me! He wrote some story about how my dog must be seeing something outside, and if I yell at him for barking, he'll just think I'm "joining in" with him and suggested I put him in a crate with a towel over it. I was so mad he wrote me two different answers!!! We fixed the problem ourselves by getting one of those dividers that go in the back of the truck so the dog can't jump over the seat. Thanks for nothing, Pet Expert!
