Congratulations!! I agree with the others - 4lbs is a great size. They let us bring our DD home from the NICU at 4lbs, 5oz - so hopefully your stay won't be long.

My Girlfriend just had the same issue. Her son is doing great. Born at 4lbs and now 7. He is still NICU but doing great.

What a story! 4 lbs is great for 31w5d!! My DS was 4lb3oz at 34 weeks! Hoping your nicu stay is a short one

My September baby decided to be a July baby!
** update 7/11**
The baby started off in NICU with the cpap. Prongs on nose to push oxygen. He was at 38%. And a tube down his esophagus to his stomach to provide nutrition. The doctors tell me that he will probably get worse before be gets better. Especially with the the breathing and there is the possibility if intubation.
I get a call in the afternoon that he he has started to weaken a litlle and they were going to out the feeding tube directly into his belly thru the belly button. And still watch is breathing.
When I saw him late last night ( just shy of being 24 hours old) he has lost a few ounces.
He is still breathing very fast.
He did hold my finger for over an hour. My little fighter has a good grip.
After two hours in the NICU and me not sleeping in over 48 hours, I was doing head dives and decided I needed to get some Sleep. I didn't want to leave my little boy. But I need to be strong and healthy for him too.
I was hoping to be discharged today. But just saw the doctor and he said tomorrow. My DD is going to be very upset:(
And baby will be here for at least 4 weeks ( the 36 week mark) but we will see at that point.
Thank you for all the prayers. And I pray to only have good updates going forward.

As of last night the baby is the same. Which is better than hearing he is weaker.
He is still receiving oxygen, antibiotics, and his feeding tube.
He is peeing and pooping which is good.
Since he didn't receive any of the steriods to help mature his lungs, they are hoping he starts to produce some hormone or something that I can't Rememeber the name, on his own in the next few days.
I am trying to pump. But that isn't going so well. That's a whole other issue.
I am being discharged today. It's going to be hard leaving him. And the next few weeks are going to be stressful. Today I will have my emotional breakdown.
I know he is in good hands here at the hospital.
Thank you for all the prayers. Please keep them coming.
