My Sister Passed Away Yesterday
My oldest sister passed away yesterday. She was only 48 years old and they don't know what happened yet. The autopsy hasn't shown anything yet.
The hardest part is my nieces (4 girls). They are 26 to 13 and just don't understand what has happened. It just breaks my heart over and over again.  What do you say to them. I'm at such a loss for words. The 13 yr old is my Godchild.

I am so, so sorry to hear of your loss. I have no idea what you should tell your nieces. I don't think any words will give them comfort until they know what happened to your sister. I willl be praying for your entire family to get through this difficult time. Please keep us updated

Jen, I am so sorry! How horrible to lose a loved one, but so suddenly and without answers must be so hard on all of you. I wish you and your family strength to get through this, you will be in my thoughts.

I wanted to thank everyone for their kind words and prayers for all of us. It was a hard three days, but now we can start to heal slowly. We still don't know why, but we have to wait about 8 weeks for other blood work to come back. Hopefully there are some answers for all of us.

My sister was 13 when our dad passed. There are some things we should have done differently - we should NOT have sheltered her - we didn't involve her in the planning of the wake, mass, etc. She really felt hurt by it.
In turn she keeps most of her emotions bottled up. So my advice for the 13 year old is talk, talk, talk. Even if she doesn't want to talk to YOU, talk to her about how your sister's passing has made you feel. That teen stage is such an important (from judging my sister - I'd even say the MOST important) part of her life.
I'm so sorry for your loss Jen - my prayers are with you and your family.
