My sons PreK Graduation...
Need some advice. Don't know if I am being over sensitive because it my son.
My sons Pre K Graduation was today, due to my son getting sick Saturday night and placed on Amoxillcin Sunday was not able to attend the ceremony.
My friend come over with the tape of the ceremony, and my sons diploma was left in the basket and his name wasn't even called. I would think under the circumstance they would have announced his name anyway.
I am ****** for the following reason he attend school all year took many certificate for 100% attendance numerous times. And the one time he is out no one knew what the right thing to do was...
Would you be mad ? Please voice options...
TIA

I wouldn't be mad. He wasn't there and the teacher or whoever probably didn't think you or he would see a video of the graduation.
But I would want the diploma.
I hope he's feeling better.

If it was High school graduation maybe I would be upset but pre-K?? no, I dont think so. Even if your son was there...do you really think he would understand what was going on??

Re: My sons PreK Graduation...
As a teacher, when I give end of the year awards I still announce anyone who is absent
I feel they have earned it and even if they are not there, then they should still be recognized
Your son's name should have been called and then announced he was unable to attend

For a preK graduation, no way. If it was HS that would be different.

Re: My sons PreK Graduation...
For preK graduation, no, I wouldn't be mad. It would be nice if the teacher sent you the certificate. I don't think anyone in attendence thought he flunked out - and no one could have known you'd watch a video of the ceremony.
You can always do a little ceremony for him at home with family, but I wouldn't be angry or take it personally that his name wasn't called if he was absent.
Hope he's feeling better soon!

Re: My sons PreK Graduation...
I would be upset, as well. He was part of the class for a whole year. He achieved success and received certificates for his attendance. At the very least, they should have announed his name and congratulated him. It doesn't matter what level of graduation it may be, any and all achievement should be recognized. I would go and pick up his diploma and make mention of it; not to start an argument, but, to simply state how I felt. Maybe, in the future, they will think about how their actions affect people and do what is right.

I wouldn't be upset for a pre-k graduation but for high school yes. You should make sure you get the certificate though.

I did this too, I teach 3rd grade. We just had an awards assembly a few weeks ago. I announced the award (s)they recieved and that they were absent. I still wanted to aknowledge them...they still got the award even though they were absent
