My stay here was fairly brief
Well this had to be the most awful weekend of our lives. Friday afternoon I came home from work in a good mood thinking any day we would heard good news back from our amnio (no DS). However, that was not the case at all. I being superstitious, about having received two bad news calls from our doctor in the past, asked them to call DH at work the the amnio results. Well they did because he came home from work and grabbed me crying his eyes out. I have never ever seen him this distraught. Our WORST FEARS were realized - our baby bean has DOWNS!!!! The chances are 700 to 1 and we are that 1!! no family history - just a fluke the doctor said. We are in complete shock, devastaed and emotionally empty. After much serious discussion between us, we have decided to end the pregnancy. That is happening tomorrow. We will then begin with struggle to heal with family and friends around us. All the while remembering our little bean for the rest of our lives. We hope to give it another try at the end of the summer.
Thank you all for your constant support and please keep us in your thoughts and prayers. I would like to check back here from time to time and hear all your wonderful birthing stories. I wish you all the very very best!!!

im sorry!! but i have to say that 2 people i know had the same results done from an amino and decided to continue the preganncy and everythign was fine. soemtines they do make mistakes. but again it is a risk too..... Im sorry for your pain

I also have to agree with the above post -- I've heard of people whose amnio said thier baby had Downs and they were born normal. I know it is a difficult decision to make and the decision is all yours...but sometimes tests can be wrong. Can they do a level2 sonogram to test for the other physical markers for Downs syndrome before you go any further?

I can't imagine being in your shoes and having to make that decision but I know that DH and I would probably have chosen the same. I pray you and DH have the strength to get through this difficult time.
