My version of CIO is working!
I don't want to jinx it, but as some of you know - Ryan has STILL been getting up 2-3x a night - and I've been going in to soothe him, give him the paci and once a night still feeding him. He is almost 6 months old.
The other night I jumped up immediately again, went to give him the paci and realized, "this kid is barely awake - he's crying in his sleep!"
So I told DH for the following night, while I can't stand to here Ryan cry, I wanted to give it 15 minutes (of cry/whining - not screaming).
So, next night he wakes up for the first time at 11:20PM - we try to ignore it (I watch him on the monitor), goes back to sleep in 10-minutes on his own! Wakes up again at his usuall 3:30AM - again, 10-minutes and he's back on his own.
Next night, each time was less than 10-minutes.
Last night he only woke up once - 3:30AM and was back to sleep in 4-minutes. He woke at 7AM and I popped on the mobile to pump and he went back to sleep until 7:45.
So, point being - I think his bad sleeping was MY fault. I'm sure by tomorrow night or the next few nights he won't be waking at all (or at the very least - we're not having to go to him!). I wonder how long ago I should have been more consistent with this. I feel bad he hasn't been getting a good night's sleep and I could have helped it sooner!

That's great! He's learning how to sooth himself and put himself back to sleep. Awesome!

Re: My version of CIO is working!
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY RYAN! I went through the same thing. Athan is an awful sleeper, he whines and cries and whimpers and is all over the crib. I used to take that as a sign of hunger or that he was scared and needed me. Boy was I wrong. For the last 3 weeks he has been going 9-10 hours straight!!! Do what works mom - and I think you found out what "what works" is!! KEEP IT UP RYAN!!!
