Mylicon drops

We've had Joseph on them every 4 hours for the last 3 or 4 days or so as per the pediatrician. They seem to be working for the gas, but he's got some pooping issues.

Has anyone else used them as regligiously as we are and did you notice any side effects??

Re: Mylicon drops

I've heard that the drops can cause constipation but I don't really see how it's possible since I hear that the simethecone doesn't even get metabolized by their bodies.

Anyway, we used them for a few weeks after each feeding and eventually he just didn't need them anymore. You'll know when you can stop using them.

If you feel they are causing constipation (is it real constipation = hard formed poops?) then don't use them for a couple of feedings and see how he does. Infants naturally have a hard time pooping sometimes simply because those mechanisms are still developing. So if he's straining and grunting but doesn't have hard formed poops, he's probably not really constipated.

Re: Mylicon drops

i heard they cause diarrhea because they ave some mercury in the drops which is also a natural muscale relaxer.

This has been happening to Ryan the past few days, and he's only going once a day vs. what use to be several...

Im not using those drops...however he is getting ALOT more formula, and we just recently switched to soy...
