Mystery Reader 3rd Grade Book Ideas?
I am so at a loss.
Have mystery reader on Friday and not sure what to read. I have never gotten to read for his class because I never had babysitting for his siblings. My son only reads soccer books and big chapter books. What can I read in a short time at school? Thinking maybe nonfiction? Maybe something about this cold weather or winter? But then son said the last person read about snow. Maybe a Superbowl themed book - seems to be a big topic so my sons say at school with their friends? Any suggestions...please....
THANK YOU!

Maybe the kids would like Dav Pilkey's Kat Kong & Dogzilla books. They are both relatively short & have fun illustrations. The best response from the kids will be if they aren't too familiar with the stories - check with your son to see if they've read them in class.

I think Fiction would be the way to go. Nonfiction may be hard to read aloud. I know most kids get a kick out of "The True Story of the Three Little Pigs." Some other suggestions: Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day Click,Clack Moo, Cows that Type Fine, Fine School
My DD is kindergarten and I did There was an Old Lady Who Swallowed Some Snow. That series is fun too. Have fun!

I just reread your post and realized that you said maybe Super Bowl themed. There is a book called "Family Huddle" by Peyton and Eli Manning. It's a cute story. Maybe you could even bring in Football themed cupcakes from Costco or BJ's.

I read "Charlie hits it big", a book about a guinea pig and I asked the teacher if I could bring our pet guinea pig for the kids to pet. They loved it! I would say anything funny that will make the kids laugh would be great!

Thanks all! I went to the library today with many of the title listed here on my list. The librarian actually has a section of go to books for mystery reader. She recommended maybe a groundhog day book. I found one that was a silly story and then had a little history of the day. Fiction and non-fiction. Teacher thinks it is a great idea too!
