Mytinyhands.com (I posted on parenting but figured you girls might want one as well)
My DS is only 7.5 weeks old, we rarely ever go out, and I've already had 2 strangers go to touch him while in his infant seat. I saw my friend has this hanging on her baby's car seat so she gave me the info and I just ordered mine (they've been out of stock for about month and just got them back in today).

I like that! I'll have to remember that after baby is born so I can get pink or blue. Although red would work!

OMG, best. thing. ever!!!!!!!!
I had a woman touch DD before I even realized what was happening. She was within my reach but I was looking at my register receipt before leaving Costco. When I looked back, this woman's hand was pulling back from DD's face!!!!!
I got ripped apart on the Parenting board for losing my cool, but people seem to think they are entitled to touch your child.
Thus, I think this is the best thing ever.

I have the net that covers the infant car seat. It should keep strangers with dirty hands away.

you didn't get "ripped apart" you told us you screamed at the lady and some people felt you overreacted which if I am remembering correctly, was your question in the post?
I think this sign is cute, but also a bit much. I feel like society is one step away from putting our child in a bubble for the first year.

Case and point.
I never said I screamed at her. I merely asked her why she felt she was entitled to touch someone else's child without their permission. A VERY valid question to ask.
So for those of you still wondering if it might be a good idea--I think this illustrates the point. I think the netting is a great idea, too, and I wish I had thought of it before being hurled into that situation.

Yeah, I think people took issue with how you handled the situation, not the actual situation.
And I agree with Kelly! Germs are good and keeping a baby completely protected all the time doesn't really do them any favors in the long run!

Re: Mytinyhands.com (I posted on parenting but figured you girls might want one as well)
okay, i am going to be honest here....
i feel like the sign is a cute idea - however, a few germs are a GOOD THING..... When we were kids, we were passed around in the grocery store, we were sucking on the cart handles, etc. We made it just fine.
will i enjoy strangers reaching down to touch Emma? i honestly don't know - but i'm not going to be overly worried about it. again - when WE were kids - we played with metal toys, got cuts & scrapes and all made it just FINE...

I totally agree. I think we're actually making our kids weaker because of this.
I think the sign is a little obnoxious. If i felt strongly about that, i'd probably still put it up, but it's definitely a deterent- both from you and the baby, imo.

The funny thing is one of the instances for me happened in Costco too!
As far as people saying germs are good and so forth...I agree BUT that does not mean I want complete and total strangers touching my baby!! Family and friends are one thing, strangers are totally different story! I have no clue where their hands just were- they could've just finished scratching their @ss for all I know! therefore i will be proudly put the stop sign on my baby's carseat/stroller.

Re: Mytinyhands.com (I posted on parenting but figured you girls might want one as well)
I kinda think it's rude... To be honest, it's up to the parent to keep strangers from touching their child if they're bringing them out at an early age. (IMO of course)
I don't remember EVER worrying about this with my kid... Same goes for shopping carts cover etc etc. He's perfectly healthy..

Re: Mytinyhands.com (I posted on parenting but figured you girls might want one as well)
as someone who has seen even dh's grandmother pickup babies hands I know strangers will attempt it. the sign is a little too much for me, so i'll be getting the netting for the infant carrier... after the first 3 months im not sure how much id use it... but after 2 pregnancy losses i especially dont want my first born baby getting sick as a newborn when i could have prevented it with such an easy product.i feel the bubble as well justified.

I stand corrected, you didn't scream...but you also weren't one hundred percent positive if the woman even touched your DD.
Like I said, IMHO even when I was a brand-new mother, I just feel it's just another form of unrealistic isolation of my children from even normal germs.
I understand that you would NEVER want your child to get sick very young, but I could not understand getting insane about getting out of the house and in public.
It's just a little silly...to me.

i was just thinking the same thing. if anything, i think the sign draws attention to your child.
i agree with those who find the sign obnoxious... the world is literally covered in germs. you can't shield your baby from them, nor should you, imo. this is how immune systems get built up. they'll get the germs sooner or later...
no offense to those who feel differently
