Re: Nail Biting Toddler

If you look a few weeks back I posted the SAME thing !...My DS turned 3 Oct 12 and we were having a huge problem with this and now,it definately seems to have slowed down...he especially did it when we were in the car etc... when he wasn't involved in anything...I know they sell something like sour apple for thumb sucking- not sure if thats safe to use for nail biting for this age...Give it a couple of weeks, maybe you'll have the same luck as me and it will start to subside Chat Icon

Here was my post - LOL Chat Icon - I didnt get any replies so i thought I was a loner in this !

Re: Nail Biting Toddler

my son bit his fingernails and his tonenails for a couple of years. he started when he was maybe 2, kept it up until he was over 4. the one good thing, i never had to cut his nails. LOL. seriously, he never chewed them down to the point they bled. and they were always short. i spoke to his ped. about it, and due to other eating issues, his ped felt there was no point in possibly screwing up his normal eating over this. so we let him bite his nails, and then one day he just stopped. it was very weird. but no harm done.

the only downside now, i have to cut his nails.
