Name some Christmasy places to visit in Suffolk or Nassau (restaurants, shopping, attractions, etc)
DH has some time off and we want to visit some Christmasy/festive LI places (Suffolk or Nassau). Name your faves. Could be anything at all from eating to decorative to shopping.

Old Bethpage Village does candlelight nights with storytelling and caroles etc. Very nice if you get a not too cold night!

Can you tell us where to go? Literally what street, and maybe suggest a restaurant? We have never been there so we did plan to go.
Thanks for the suggestions. Keep em coming!

Is this only at night? Do they have daytime things as well?

I think small towns with main streets are nice, like CSH, Hunt, NPT, Port Jeff, Sayville, etc.

Any restaurants you would recommend in Sayville area, and how many blocks is the village?

The village is just a few blocks. I just ate at Cafe Joelle and would recommend it. Also in Post Jeff Pasta Past is good, Elk Street Grill , Pace's (steak) and Danford's (while the food is just Ok, is pleasant to sit in). In Stony Brook its a bit harder. I like Pentimento (but haven't been in a while), Three Village Inn (again pleasant, but only ok food) and Country House (expensive but good). In Northport, there is a cafe I like, but the name is escaping me but Marroni's is great (it's small and you need a reservation, he does a tasting menu where you eat whatever the chef is cooking for the night and I think its around $90 a person).
Have fun!!!

I was just at Riverview in Oakdale for a rehearsal dinner and it was decorated so beautifully. It also has a few fireplaces. Very very quaint.

I like the village of Sayville. Crickets pub mmmm. I am not a fan of Cafe Joelle, but there's also Blue Water and 21 Main steak house. Just East of the end of Main street is The Sayville Inn which is really good, and next to that is Oysterman's. There are so many cute shops on that street, and there's a Starbucks. Definitely check out the toy store, it's fille dwith learning toys, I love it.

I've never done this, but had to add that I stayed at Camp Eddy back in the day when I was a girl scout! What a buggy place to camp I kind if want to see the lights and see the old camp with the weird bathrooms and cabin etc. I just remember bugs and rain. Can you tell I wasn't a big outdoors girl?

I went to Camp Eddy too! I didn't realize that's where it was. It was a weird place... cold water in the bathrooms I remember. I did not sleep well that not at all. I'm not the outdoors type either.

main st and east main st by the harbor... you can walk around, go to a $$$ restaurant (paces steak house or pasta pasta), a mid-$$ place (pie pizza place), or a cheap place (salsa salsa).
walk around and enjoy the lights and decorations.....
