Nanny v Day Care?
I am on the fence of whether I want to put DS in daycare or hire a nanny. He will be 4months when this begins.
I feel like daycare will expose him to more things. However, I am being selfish here, but i dont want to worry about me getting him and myself ready for work everyday so I can drive him to daycare. Hence a nanny coming to the house would help.
any insight?

Re: Nanny v Day Care?
I have a nanny sort of- my downstairs land lady takes maddie and it's wonderful.... all I have to do is bring her downstairs. She's $$$- but, maddie is doing very well with her and hasn't been sick or exposed to too many germs (yes, I'm aware eventually she will be- but the longer I can get away with not having her sick, the better). Maddie gets one-on-one attention and exposed to a second language (Portugese)- which is pretty cool.

Re: Nanny v Day Care?
My SIL has a wonderful nanny and I do in home care. Both are wonderful women who work with our daughters. But my SIL does have it easier. If she is running late, no problem- the nanny gets a lot of time off. She comes home to a clean house, clean bottles and a baby ready for bed. I have to wash all my DD stuff and get it ready for drop off the next day. Plus I have to do that drop off, even if it makes me late to work.
But my DD has 5 other playmates who keep her distracted from missing mommy and daddy, my in home care is 215 less than my SIL nanny(and her nanny is dirt cheap since she is new to the job and didn't have any references), my SIL nanny repeatedly asks for raises all the time, while I have a contract that states my tuition won't go up until next year.
Hope that helps! I also work 7:30 until 4 pm while my SIL works 9-7pm. My hours are much more practical for in home care, while her's are better for a nanny.

Re: Nanny v Day Care?
I had DS in daycare when he was 4mths old and he was there for only 2 weeks. He came home sick and that was all it took for me! I dont feel that is the age to expose him to a daycare environment. Since then I had a friend of the family watch him for a few months and now I have a Nanny. Having a nanny is great. He is in his own home with his own toys & bed, she takes him for walks, he goes in our yard on his swing. I dont have to travel with DS in the rain/heat/snow etc, While DS is sleeping she helps out around the house by doing laundry, vacuuming, dusting and emptying the dishwasher! I would say the only downside is if the Nanny is not able to come for the day, you dont have the luxury as a daycare since there are plenty of help on staff. Today my Nanny is sick so I had to take off of work to stay home with DS. But that is why I save all my vacation days!
I will def. send DS to daycare when he is older!
