Napping at full day places (like Sesame Place)

I'm trying to figure out the logistics for bringing Ryan to Sesame this summer. We are planning to do a Friday - Sunday thing. We will stay in Philly (about 30-minutes away from the park) both nights and spend probably Saturday at Sesame. My question is - what do you do when your DC naps smack in the middle of the day?

We plan to do the breakfast just so we can get into the park sooner (seems that starts at 9:15AM and park opens at 10AM). But he's usually ready for a nap by 12PM. Do I just hope and pray he at least cap naps in his stroller around that time and push on? How have people done it with toddlers?

I don't want an overtired kid in a water park in my third trimester

I know this isn't exactly the same thing but I was concerned with having DS at the beach all day (10AM to 8PM) for July 4th weekend, and honestly, there was so much going on that he was fine and enjoying himself the whole time.

Yes, he got cranky when he was overtired, and would freak out for about 15 minutes, but then he would magically get his second wind, and the whole day (for 3 days), only catnapped twice for 15-20 minutes and was fine.

Thomas naps right smack in the middle of the day too. I put him in his stroller at around normal naptime, give him blankie or duckie, and wheel around until he falls asleep. It ususally works. Use that time to get something to eat for yourself, sit down, relax for a few minutes, shop in gift shop, etc.

We are going to Disney in August and this is what I plan to do.

My DS fell asleep there in the stroller (almost 2 at the time)...Finding a quiet place to stroll him was a little bit of a task, but it worked..Good Luck Chat Icon

Try a trial day where you keep everyone busy and on the go one Saturday and see how he handles it.

DS is 2 and still very much requires his nap, but if we time it and keep things busy, we are able to pull it off. We just begin & end the day/festivities early.

last year dd was 13 mths when we went to hershey, surpisingly she fell asleep in the stroller while we are at the park (went with the attitude that she wasnt going to nap that day)..we are going to sesame place in 2 weeks and honestly do not think she will nap..if she doesnt since there is so much going on she will be fine, if she does even better! gl

Honestly I just go with the flow. DS is pretty flexible about his nap and will sometimes skip it if he is really busy.

If I see him crabby, then I will try to take him off to a quieter area and just rock him/walk him in the stroller etc. Last year we went to Storyland in NH and instead of going into the circus show with everyone I walked him around outside and he passed out for about 45 minutes. That was enough for him. I also made sure I got an "umbrella" stroller that reclines for this reason.

DS was only 7 months last year but we are going to Hershey this weekend and he will be 19 months so we will see!

I'm planning on him not napping that day, so that I don't stress myself out. It's one day so he'll be fine. If he's cranky and tired enough then he'll just have to sleep in the stroller.

DS usually naps after lunch. At Sesmae place he made it through the day without napping but passed out around 5. We decided to leave because we did almost everything by then.

When we went to Sesame I just figured DS wouldn't nap and was prepared for a cranky kid by the afternoonChat Icon

After lunch we put him in the stroller and got a nice spot in the shade for the parade and while we were waiting for the parade to start I was rocking the stroller back and forth and he fell asleep and slept through the entire parade! He never used to nap anywhere other than his crib but he was so exhausted he went out. And he went to bed super early that night too.
