Nasal Aspirator - from a BTDT mom

DS has had 4 colds in his first year of life and I have tried all types of aspirators.

The ONLY one that works for us and the one I think is most effective is the one from the Hospital ... you know, the one they use to suction the baby right after birth ....

I didn't even think to ask the nurses, but my girlfriend did and she had two so she gave me one ....

So ladies, if you can remember, ask for an aspirator in the Hospital ....

The bulb is lreally arge and has so much power to get all the boogies out (which is very important when they are really little - stagnant mucous can cause bronchiolitis and pnemonia ...)

We have one at home and its great! DD gets tons of boogies after her bath and we suction them out with the hospital aspirator. Works great! Chat Icon

Just an FYI-

"The First Years" makes a nasal aspirator that is exactly the same - it is even called "hospital style nasal aspirator". I got it for my first DD - it really is the best. I'm sure they sell it at either BBB or BRU.

I have this one and it is exactly the same. Of course if you can get the hospital to give you one, free is good tooChat Icon

Doesn't the one from first years have a smaller bulb and nosil? I *think* I have that one too and it is not as big. I find the bigger bulb creates a better suction.

The one from the hospital is the BEST. I bought a white version of the same thing by "First Years" and it didn't work nearly as well. Get a couple of them if you can.

Yes, the bulb is definitely a little smaller. Not sure about the comparison, only because I never used the hospital one. But I agree with you - anything hospital style works the best. I tried one of the really small ones and it didn't do anything except torture poor DD!
