does anyone know if you can fight a parking ticket you receive on campus?
my stupid parking permit thing expired. i didnt even think of it or realize. i take one class at night each semester.
this ticket is $80! im shocked by the amount and dont want to pay it. anything i can do to get out of this?

sometimes u can go and play dumb and see if they will remove it when u show that u got a new parking ticket..do u know anyone who can pull some strings with campus security??
the down side is if u dont pay it, next semester u usually cant register or eventually get ur diploma..

How are you told about renewing parking permits there? If you were not notified and should be I would fight it with Public Safety.

Is there an expiration date on the parking sticker? I go to Queens College and our stickers have exp. dates on them. If there is and you just didn't notice it, I'd say you are at fault.

i think i am going to play dumb.
this is the first semseter that i registered online - i guess i missed the icon or whatever. when i register in person i used to just check the box and pay the $17 for the permit. ugh...
so this isnt a "real" nassau county ticket? if i never plan on graduating i could technically throw it in the garbage and call it a day? right?
side note - i am back in school to take a few courses towards a certification. i am not persuing any additonal degrees or plan on graduating.

I do not think you could take more classes until its paid but you can try and fight it. Good Luck

It probably is a real Nassau county ticket. The cops on campus are Nassau County cops, not just security guards. You may still be able to fight the ticket, but I'm not really sure.
Usually you need a new sticker each semester. I didn't know they could expire mid semester. I would look into that.

i think in Nassau it is a real ticket. You will also not be able to register for any future classes if you owe any money. In Qns it is not a real ticket but it sure is a b*tch when u wanna graduate lol

most of the time they will wave a first offense... happens at my university all the time.
ETA: You can't just forget about it. It will put a hold on your account so you cannot register, graduate, etc...
