Natural Post- partum herbal remedies
Post partum Perineal “tea”- You can get most of these herbs at any natural food store, if not FM me and I will tell you what online site I purchased them from!

2 oz comfrey leaves
2 oz witch hazel bark
1 oz shepards purse leaves
1 oz Uva Ursi Leaves.

Place the above mentioned herbs in a crockpot or post with 1 gallon distilled water and slowly warm for about 4 hours (you don’t even want a simmer)

You can use the above tea warm on hot compresses applied to the perineum. Cool and pour into a peri bottle and use to clean up after going to the bathroom, pour onto maxi pads and freeze.

The above herbs help with decreasing inflammation of the vaginia, healing bruising and tears as well as reduce irritation and help to promote quicker healing.

Another remedy: Also helps especially if you tear prevents the urine from “stinging” the vagina when you urinate.
Raw honey is a great remedy for first-degree tears. Honey's thick consistency forms a barrier defending the wound from outside infections. The moistness allows skin cells to grow without creating a scar, even if a scab has already formed. Meanwhile, the sugars extract dirt and moisture from the wound, which helps prevent bacteria from growing, while the acidity of honey also slows or prevents the growth of many bacteria. An enzyme that bees add to honey reacts with the wound's fluids and breaks down into hydrogen peroxide, a disinfectant. Honey also acts as an anti-inflammatory and pain killer and prevents bandages from sticking to wounds. Laboratory studies have shown that honey has significant antibacterial qualities.(2) Significant clinical observations have demonstrated the effectiveness of honey as a wound healing agent.(3) Glucose converted into hyaluronic acid at the wound surface forms an extracellular matrix that encourages wound healing; honey is also considered antimicrobial.

I used this (my midwife actually did all the work for me) and I can tell you, I felt not a bit of discomfort. I swear by it!

I'll have to look into getting all of the ingredients. I had a hard time healing last time & was so uncomfortable. Just a question about the honey alternative: doesn't that get caked on and crusty? I just picture what can sometimes happen around the rim of the honey bottle---crystallization and cracking.
