NC people-Raleigh or Charlotte
DH and I are looking into moving to NC again. We've been to the Raleigh area, but never Charlotte. Which does everyone prefer? There seems to be cheaper housing in Charlotte, but better schools in Raliegh....Any advice would be great! thanks!

Re: NC people-Raleigh or Charlotte
I am in Charlotte, never been to Raleigh though.
We are moving all around Charlotte. First we were in South Park, great neighborhood Myers Park schools(excellent)
Then we moved to Huntersville...love it up here, also great schools.
We are heading down to Ballantyne, up and coming area. We are only going to be there a year, so I am not sure how the schools are there.
Charlotte is funny...DH's dream neighborhood is right outside the uptown area(Dilworth)...restored bungalows...I love the subdivisions with the community pool scene. A lot of people here love the country. There are a ton of different areas.
If you come down here with 200K, you will be able to get into a good neighborhood. If you want to spend less, the homes are out there, just more of a search.
DH's job is going to move us around a lot in the process of him moving up. The more we go up into the mountains, the more I see that I could live up there We are Asheville addicts.
We spent 8 weeks last summer in Myrtle Beach, loved it there as well. Wilmington is super nice , if you have the cash to spend.
NC is funny, so many different type areas, you just have to find something to cater to your needs.
I don't worry too much about school systems. I like the idea of Catholic School.

Re: NC people-Raleigh or Charlotte
I hear there are LOTS of New Yorkers moving to the Raleigh-Durham area...I hear they're beginning to call Cary "little NY"!
I only passed through Raleigh. We settled on Charlotte mostly because my sister moved there a little less than a year ago, and my Mom decided that she wanted to retire and move there as well. DH and I have been looking for an excuse to leave NY, and I guess this was it. But I love lots of things about Charlotte...Union County schools are great, people are nice...and I can eat breakfast at Cracker Barrel whenever I want.

Re: NC people-Raleigh or Charlotte
we have a LOT of family moving to Charlotte( area) in the upcoming year - two years and we have recently started talking about us possibly going as well.
Seems to be a big NY exodus there....
