updated - he's passed. Charlotte ladies - do any of you have any hotel connections?
update: Friday, 9:10am
He passed away 15 minutes ago It looks like they'll just be going for a service now. Thank you for all your help.
I know this is a long shot -
my Dad's cousin was given hours/days this morning, so my parents are changing their flight from next weekend to this coming Sunday, and they can no longer stay with the family, because there is just too much family coming from all over and there's no room.
Dad's called all the hotels in the Ballantyne area (that's the closest to his cousin) and surrounding areas, and every hotel only has availability for 1 night - Sunday. They want to stay for at least 3 or 4 nights.
ahhh! this is a nightmare
I cannot BELIEVE how fast this poor man got sick. He was diagnosed with a tumor in his lung the week after Thanksgiving when he saw his Dr. for a persistent cough. The cancer quickly spread to his brain, and he has many inoperable tumors on his spinal cord, brain stem, sinus cavities, etc.
that was not even 4 MONTHS ago, and now he's dying
I feel SO BADLY for his wife & children. He has a son my age - his wife can't eat or drink because her stomach is in knots and she's throwing everything up...Its a terrible terrible TERRIBLE situation and I wish I wasn't so far away and helpless.

Is Balentine the name of the city? I was trying to look it up for you but can't find that city in NC. Can you clarify? I am trying to look into it for you...

Thank you Its Charlotte - but Ballantyne is a neighborhood, i guess?
They don't live close to the airport, so the airport hotels are out.

Holiday Inn
thank you so much - I really appreciate your help - that's about 20 miles away from their home, but I will definitely tell my parents tomorrow. Its a GREAT backup if they can't get anything closer.
There's a courtyard marriot right near the house, but again, they only have 1 night availability.
are you in the travel industry, or just a very helpful person?

I don't have any hotel hookups..but Ballentyne is just south of Charlotte. South Park is actually pretty close and there are a few good hotels around there. The zip is 28211. Hope that helps

Re: Charlotte ladies - do any of you have any hotel connections?
P.S. If they REALLY want to get into the Courtyard that is closer - just book the first night and then the next morning tell them you would like to stay. It can be a risk, but 90% of the time a hotel will accomodate your extended reservation instead of having you leave.
(did that make sense?)

yes, you make sense! Problem is - there's some sort of convention there Mon-Fri, so I don't know about anything opening up...
and they're hoping to get 2 room - my grandparents have decided to go, too.

I am sorry to hear that.
Call a couple of hotels, they should have breavement rates. I know that the wingate does, so I woud think the large chain hotels might offer the same.
