Need 1st Bday party favor ideas for wide age range
I hate to admit but I've been putting this off becuase I'm totally stumped for ideas. I need favors for the kids attending DD's 1st bday party but I have no clue what to buy. The kids are all from DH's family and I don't really know their exact ages, let alone interests. I think the range is from about 3-teenage.
Can anyone suggest favors around $10 that I can do for this age range? I'm thinking obviously I need different favors but I don't even know what people give out these days. Also, I'm giving out cupcakes to everyone (including adults), so at what age do I cut off kids from getting an additional "kiddie" favor? I'm SO out of the loop on kid's parties (this is my first LO and I haven't been to a kid's party in over 15 years), I originally thought I'd just give everyone a cupcake and call it a day but now MIL is talking about what I can give the kids.

I'm a HUGE fan of edible favors so I think a cupcake per adult and child is awesome! For DD's 1st bday we gave everyone cookies as favors and also had a candy bar with bags for everyone to fill up. We didn't do a separate kiddie favor.
However, if you REALLY want to do something I think anything "summery" would be good. Buckets filled with beach balls, shovels, coloring books etc...all from like the $ section at Target.
But since it a wide range of kids...yeah I still say edible favors for all!
Now my preggo butt wants a cupcake!

I think the cupcakes are perfectly fine to give to everyone. Do you know how many kids? Is there a certain theme to the party?
What about beach ball, coloring book, crayons, some candy, and bubbles? You can buy a cute bag at Michaels or even Target. I'd probably give it to kids 10 and under and the teenagers will be fine with the cupcake alone.
If you're not having entertainment for the kids you can get some crafts stuff for them to do and then they can take that home along with the cupcake.

Thanks so much ladies! I love the sand pail/summer idea! I'm going to run to Target and see what I can find to fill them with and to check out what they have as far as crafts, great idea!

i think the pail idea is great and if you have a candy buffet, no need to fill them.. have enough pails for at least every child up to 12 and then clear celo bags for everyone else
also the cupcake is perfect

I did water bottles last year filled with treats. I personalized them which was a huge hit. For adults I usually give cupcakes, but this year I'm doing cookies.

Re: Need 1st Bday party favor ideas for wide age range
just found these gardening kits for $4.50 each online they can be personalized for $5.50 each. Although, I think this would be more for the infant -5yr crowd.
or I may personalize these for $8.95 each
and include seed packets and Lindt carrots
