My DD is almost 4.5 and she currently LOVES anything to do with crafts, coloring, making jewelry, etc. and puzzles. Melissa & Doug have great age appropriate puzzles (she has a Ballerina one that is great) they also have jewelry kits and paint sets.

my neice is giong to be 5. I bought her a little pocketbook and filled it with hair clips, headbands, etc.
she carries her pocketbook everywhere.
she also loves memory card games & puzzles
